A new psychological horror, Interpoint, is announced with mechanics and designs that make Interpoint look to pay homage to some of gaming’s greats
There is another newcomer to the FPS psychological horror genre of video games, as we now have Interpoint to add into the mix. This new title comes from Three Dots and looks to give us some old sci-fi horror with a bit of the gameplay we have seen in some other great titles in the past. I am not talking about FPS titles in general but in the form of a special gun that can do quite a few different things and will be needed to complete the game. Interpoint will call it a Photon Gun while others can see how it links to, say, a portal gun. As it will be used to absorb other energies in the world to convert them into other forms we will use to explore and survive. You can hopefully see the parallels there with others, but that does not detract from this game at all.
On top of using the Photon Gun to explore an underground science complex in Interpoint, we will be offered up many ways to solve the problems at hand and even see multiple endings in the game. Something we always hear about in games as of late but only see slightly different endings still leading to the same thing. I have hopes that Interpoint will give us full and different endings based on the fact that we will be seeing parallel worlds mixed in, which could also mean different timelines, and that worked out well for another small title from so long ago. In the best of ways in case you read that weird in your own head.
Interpoint — Announcement
Interpoint is a first-person sci-fi mystery with elements of psychological horror. A secret organization made the discovery of parallel worlds. You are Harry G., a scientist, who took part in a project that was supposed to benefit all of humanity.
Welcome to Delta Labs!
In the early 2020s, the Delta Laboratories research corporation created the Quantum Entanglement Device, which allows opening portals to countless parallel universes, but all other worlds discovered were either an almost exact copy of ours or completely surreal worlds with unknown creatures. You are a scientist who took part in creating a project that was supposed to benefit all of humanity, but something went wrong. One day, you find yourself stuck far away from home.
Features:
- Photon Gun is a key element of gameplay. The device is able to absorb energy from surrounding objects (light from bulbs, gamma radiation from radioactive puddles, force fields in laboratories, etc.) and transform it into something else.
- Underground science complex and a journey through parallel worlds.
- Explore, search for answers and solve puzzles.
- Many solutions. Interact with objects, find secret passages, use all the features of the Photon Gun.
- Twisted story with several levels of depth, conspiracy, and various endings.
What thoughts do you have about Interpoint at the point of this announcement and quick release on the PC? Do you think that it will use the concepts from the other games mentioned here in great ways or be another title that tries yet falls flat? Will we truly see multiple endings in this game or will they just have slightly different dialog bits that still lead to the same conclusion? Let us know what you are thinking down in the comments and then discuss. When we have more to share for Interpoint, we will share it here. Just be back to see and hear all of that as we progress further.
