Outward
The release date for Outward is now set and we have a breakdown of how Outward will differ from the many other RPGs out there
Maybe you have been looking for a different way to go at the traditional RPG style of games as of late. If that is the case then I am here to show you Outward as it has been saddled with a release date now and we can see this new take on the genre hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in March of next year. In fact, Deep Silver has set the date down as March 26th of 2019 where we will be experiencing the new RPG from Nine Dots in full. Granted, RPGs may not be your jam, but Outward offers up a new way to look at it all as we play as a random human in the world we have been given here. Weird, I know, but let us dive in a bit more before judging.
The world of Outward sounds to be you traditional medieval fantasy setting with all of the usual tropes and creatures. The difference here being that you are not tasked with saving the world because you are part dragon or some prophecy said so. Instead, we get to play as your average Joe in the world who has to survive everything out there. More or less, your zero level character who is making the change into a first level hero if you want to compare Outward to a more traditional RPG style of game. It is an interesting move to go that way and I am curious to see how it plays out. Especially as the learning curve, we will have goes toward the character as well, so to speak.
In Outward, we are going to need to do the basic survival stuff that a person in the setting would need to go through. All of that and the processes of a magic user in terms of regaining and casting magic instead of "hand waving it" and just being able to recoup spells and go casting away. It does sound interesting, but I would also want to see Outward slapped with a survival genre as well as the RPG thing. It is something we are going to have to keep an eye on and thus should be thrown upfront when looking into the game in full. Have a look at the latest video for the game and see if you will be joining in the fun of the game in March.
Outward — The Human Side Of Adventuring
Publishers Deep Silver and developer Nine Dots, along with Maximum Games, have announced the release date for their hardcore fantasy adventure RPG Outward. The game will hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on March 26th, 2019. The announcement is accompanied by a trailer that highlights the game’s focus on challenge, immersion, and fulfillment.
Outward is an open-world fantasy adventure game featuring deep simulation and immersion. In it, players will experience an entirely new kind of RPG, where they play the role of a true inhabitant of a sprawling world, requiring biological maintenance and self-preservation against a harsh, uncaring environment. These simulation aspects also extend to the game’s representation of magic as an intricate web of rituals required to evoke supernatural powers. The game also packs a surprising feature: two-player local and online multiplayer, with local split-screen. This feature allows two friends to share a journey knowing they have at least one ally at their side and offers unique opportunities for strategy.
Today’s trailer showcases the rich fantasy world and the various obstacles the player’s avatar will have to face in this mystical environment. As a regular human being, players will create their own destiny against a variety of dangers both magical and mundane. Exposure to the elements is just as likely to kill the player as the monsters that roam the world. To survive, they will have to grow and master the game’s complex weapons, traps, and magic.
Does Outward sound like an RPG style game that you would want to play or are you stuck in needing to always be the hero? How deep do you think the rituals and survival will actually go in the game or will it be a minor thing to micromanage along the way? Are these normal things you want to worry about in your RPGs or would you rather just see a straightforward one? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. When there is more to share for Outward, we will share it all here. Just keep coming back so you can refill that knowledge meter.
