Injustice 2
The first gameplay footage for the TMNT in Injustice 2 is here and with it comes some extra changes to Injustice 2 to help accommodate the heroes in a half shell
In just under a week we will be getting our last bit of DLC for Injustice 2's Fighter Pack 3 and those following along already know that it is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It came as a bit of a shock when NetherRealm Studios went with this team over many other characters they could have gone with, but it has been a pleasant surprise so far. More so now that we have them in action for Injustice 2 with some new gameplay. Not just new gameplay showing off their moves and super move as we have come to know from these trailers, but something more to shake the game up a bit more. Get you PS4, Xbox One, and/or PC ready to add this and some fun extra changes to the game.
Have a look at the trailer for the TMNT in Injustice 2 just below and then we will go into what exactly they are bringing to the game and just how to play with each of the guys here.
Injustice 2 — Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Deep below the surface, in the sewers of New York City, four turtle brothers were mutated by radioactive ooze and began training in the art of ninjutsu. While in a fight with the fearsome Krang—our heroes in a half-shell were jettisoned on a one way trip across the Multiverse.
The trailer gives players a first glimpse at how the Heroes in a Half Shell will play as four distinct characters through Injustice 2’s unique gear customization system. By equipping one of four accessories — swords, bo staff, nunchakus or sais — players will be able to change their character loadout to play as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Each will wield their own unique move sets, character powers, and special moves. In online and tournament modes where specific loadouts are unavailable, players will be able to select each individual Turtle from the character select screen.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will arrive on Feb. 13th for players who have purchased the Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition, Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack or Fighter Pack #3, and will be available as a standalone purchase beginning Feb. 20th from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and Microsoft Store for $9.99 USD.
We had speculated before that the TMNT in Injustice 2 could just be one character with a few extra premiere skins to make them all look different. We had also speculated that swapping between the turtles could be the character power. As it turns out, none of that is correct and each will look and play as their own character in the game as we will be equipping the character with the specific weapon and then pulling that character in with all of their own moves, character power, and specials. It sounds kind of like a super-charged version of the premiere skins in Injustice 2 as we will not have four new characters to select on the screen, but will be able to set up loadouts for each and go from there. Nonetheless, NetherRealm Studios has made it clear that they are each their own character and not just skins here.
It is interesting to note here in the trailer that none of the turtles look to have any gear on them besides their base character items. Maybe this is due to them just getting fully shown off for Injustice 2. It could also be that as it sounds like the gear system will be how we dictate with of the four we want to play as, they just will not have much outside of weapon, belt, and mask to truly switch up. That would seem like a waste for the characters, but that is just based on the information we have at this point. It does also beg the question if there will be some great options to bring other versions of the turtles to life with the gear; like Metalhead or Mechaturtle. That could just be a hidden gem for us to find out instead of getting spoiled in the trailer here. I guess we will see on February 12th.
What do you think about the TMNT in Injustice 2 here? Do you like the fact that they are built to play as their own character based on the weapon you have selected, or do you think that may hinder the actual gear you can place on them? Do you think we will see other Easter Eggs like Metalhead in the gear or will it just be the basics here for the turtles? Let us know what you are thinking down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Injustice 2, as we get it at least, keep checking in here. We will keep all of the great updates coming at you as long as they come to us.
