Feral Rites
Insomniac is working on two more VR experiences, Feral Rites & The Unspoken, for the Oculus and both Feral Rites & The Unspoken looks to bring us something completely new
Fresh off their most recent amazing release it looks like Insomniac Games has two more games/experiences for us later this year in terms of Feral Rites and The Unspoken. Both of which will be titles for the Oculus technologies and feature very different forms of gameplay and experiences. Of course that would be the case and if it wasn't for the fact that all of the news broke together we would have wasted your time talking about Feral Rites and then go into a whole other posting about The Unspoken. We'll just nail them all down right here as was done for us.
First up we have Feral Rites. This is an adventure-brawling game where we take on the role of a hero on a revenge quest in a VR setting. There is a combo-based combat system as well as a stalking mechanic to make sure you get the drop on all of your enemies. It sounds a lot like the mythic God Of War VR title I know I have been waiting for but as it is outside of the scope of the company Feral Rites is going to have to do what it can to give us all of that brutal combat and story in this VR setting.
Feral Rites — Announcement
Next up we have The Unspoken which is a player vs. player magic dueling game. Picture Fight Club with magic and the fact that you will need to use the Oculus Touch controllers to cast all of your spells at each other. Not a ground breaking idea for the world of VR but so far it looks pretty spectacular and a multiplayer game that many might have been looking for. At least if you ever wanted to see could win in a wizard's duel among your friends and neighbors. If they have the actual hardware required to play that is.
The Unspoken — Reveal
Both Feral Rites and The Unspoken are slated to release later this year using the Oculus hardware. These will now mark three new VR titles coming from Insomniac Games this year and it looks like the team there knows what they are doing. Or at least aiming for now that they have branched out into all games and genres now. I'm excited to see what each of these titles holds for us all.
What do you think about The Unspoken and Feral Rites? Does the idea of being able to hold virtual magic duels appeal to you as a gamer? How do you think the stalking and movement will play out in the other title? Let us know what you are thinking and feel free to discuss it all in the comments below. For more on either Feral Rites or The Unspoken be sure to stay right here as we will have all of the updates you can shake the controllers at as we press onward and upward.
