Titanfall 2
News on Titanfall 2 has surfaced out of an interview that state that Titanfall 2 will be getting a proper story mode and a TV spin-off show when the game finally comes out
In a recent interview with Forbes it looks like a few cats of the Titanfall 2 bag found their way out. All of which came from Respawn's Jesse Stern who is currently the lead writer for the game. The news here for Titanfall 2 is that unlike the last game it looks like we will be getting a proper story mode in the sequel; something that I felt the first game could have done well with having. I guess it is good that it wasn't there as those who didn't get to play Titanfall due to it not being on all platforms will be seeing Titanfall 2 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC along with the core story most have been hoping for.
What is even more interesting here is that Stern also spoke about a TV spin-off for Titanfall 2 to further expand the story of the game's universe. Something that has been tried and mostly failed in the past but maybe it will work here. Respawn does have a bit of time to make sure that Titanfall 2 is completely up to snuff as its final date to meet the release window would be March 31st of 2017. Well over a year out.
"One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone 'Here's who you are, here's where you are and who's around you,'" Stern said. "We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it."
From the sounds of it Titanfall 2 will be looking to have some form of story that sounds a lot like things that happened in our own human history in the way of the American Revolution and Civil War just in a sci-fi kind of approach. You know, because Titanfall 2 will still have those future weapons and huge mechs that would have made the wars of the past extremely short if the tech existed. Kind of an odd thing to say but there you have it.
"We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet," he said. "Rather than taking a traditional sci-fi approach to that we wanted to look at how that would happen practically, what the ships would look like and with machines that were designed for excavation and construction , demolition and working the land, and what happens when they are turned into instruments of war. What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war and what the next war might look like. In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real."
How do you feel about Titanfall 2 getting a standalone story mode for the game? Do you think that the first title could have profited from having the same thing? How do you feel about there being a spin-off TV show for Titanfall 2 in the works with Lionsgate? Tell us your thoughts and discuss in the comments below.
