The Waiting Game Continues For Batman: Arkham Knight On PC

If you are one of those PC gamers out there still waiting for Batman: Arkham Knight to be playable or purchasable again then this is an update for you. It's not the best of updates as Warner Bros. states that there will be a few more weeks before the current patch that just went into testing will be issued out for current owners of Batman: Arkham Knight. Hopefully that will mean that the game will again be purchasable on Steam after Rocksteady Games fixes the borked version that was handled outside of the PS4 and Xbox One versions that they did themselves. If we look at the plus side though this means that Batman: Arkham Knight will soon be playable for all here in a few weeks.

This new comes right from the steam page for Batman: Arkham Knight where the publisher, Warner Bros., explained what is going on and also what to expect if the new patch passes testing in a few week's time. The descriptions are a bit weird as I am sure that they don't want to promise anything for Batman: Arkham Knight before Rocksteady Games has made sure that everything is going to flow correctly again but that is the normal PR bullshit that we can expect to cover their asses. Let's just focus on it actually making Batman: Arkham Knight decent enough so the PC gamers can try to enjoy what the console gamers have for months now. Yes, months of waiting already.

Here's a quick list of what they are looking to fix in this first major patch for Batman: Arkham Knight on the PC.

  • Reduced frame rate hitches
  • Optimized system memory and VRAM usage
  • Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
    • Min Spec AMD GPU is once again the Radeon HD 7870 2GB
  • More Robust In-Game Settings, including:
    • Added the ability to change settings for Max FPS to 30/60/90
    • Added toggles for Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain
    • Added a “High” Texture Resolution value
    • Added Texture Filtering option
    • Added an Adaptive V-Sync option (NVIDIA only)
    • Added VRAM Usage Meter
    • Added Mouse Sensitivity Slider & Mouse Smoothing Option
  • Fixed low resolution texture bugs
  • Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

Of course all of that is their main focus so that Warner Bros. can start making money off Batman: Arkham Knight again without the need of DLC. The update does however continue to go on to other aspects of Batman: Arkham Knight that Rocksteady Games is still looking at while the above it top priority. As you most likely have guess, of glanced down to see, it is all of the frivolous and add-on content for Batman: Arkham Knight that has already graced the console versions and that the PC gamers have most likely already paid for when pre-ordering Batman: Arkham Knight in the first place. This has been one cluster-fuck hasn't it?

  • Skipping the boot up splash screens
  • DLC/Season Pass content
  • Additional updates such as Photo Mode

If you were one of those gamers affected by the poor PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight; what do you think about all of this? Are you glad that there is a small light at the end of the tunnel in the way of Rocksteady Games saving the day like Batman? Do you think it has taken too long already and have given up caring? Has this driven other to just play it on the consoles? Let us know down in the comments and discuss. Once Warner Bros. issues the update for this patch we will have it here for you as well as all things Batman: Arkham Knight so be sure to keep checking back in for all of the updates. This way you'll know when you can play the fixed game.
