As if we had much doubt that Vega would be making a return in Street Fighter V. If you did though you can remove all that doubt as it looks like Vega will be back and Capcom has added in a few new twists to the character to aid in keeping the character in line with Street Fighter V and still be a viable fighter when the game hits the PS4 and PC sometime next year. Don't worry though; this Spanish "ninja" still has his grace, beauty, and claws that magically don't kill a single person when struck. It's not like the characters of Street Fighter V could honestly live through a Jason Voorhees and Wolverine hybrid in a real all out street brawl. Maybe…
You can see Vega in action just below with the most recent Street Fighter V trailer showing off the build of the game that will be playable at Gamescom. What you can't fully see is that Vega will have two fighting styles in Street Fighter V. One of which will be with the claws while the other, with different moves, will be playable while the claws are retracted by Vega. So it's kind of like two characters in one that we will have to learn for Street Fighter V and defend against. This may be the closest that we will get to the crazy variation system that MKX made popular just recently.
What is extremely interesting here is that Capcom has made the choice to make is so when Vega loses his claws in Street Fighter V he cannot pick them up for the rest of the fight. This of course forces any Vega fans to have to learn both fighting styles in Street Fighter V or quickly be left defenseless if the claws are knocked out of hand. I remember the mad dash to pick them up way back in Street Fighter 2 and it looks like that is going to be gone here. I'm not sure how I feel about that but I guess we'll see when Street Fighter V finally hits beta and is released in its fullest form. Maybe it will be a good change.
