Mad Max Has A New Trailer The Size Of The Wasteland

If we haven't had anything to be excited for with Mad Max lately then get those motors running. We have a new gameplay trailer for Mad Max straight from Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. Not only a new gameplay trailer but a gameplay overview to show off the game and how amazing it looks now that the team has had a massive amount of time to perfect everything. It looks like Mad Max is going to be a whole lot more than just brutal killing in a mad post-apocalyptic world that is the Wasteland. Don't fret though; it is full of all that brutal killing and fighting too.

I could go into all of the details for Mad Max that we just received from Avalanche Studios here but why ruin the fun. Have a look at the trailer and then the real discussion begins as we break down the new items we can see here for Mad Max. Spoiler alert…it looks like there is a Thunderdome!

Mad Max — Gameplay Overview Trailer

If I am not mistaken I believe this is the first bit of the story for Mad Max we are getting outside of the general one that comes with the franchise. Nothing too shocking but a nice little touch. What strikes me more is the resource management systems outside of the general ammo, parts, and food. It looks like we are getting something along the lines of the estates from Assassin's Creed mixed into Mad Max here. At least in the aspect of you building them up so that you gain resources or have access to specific things. It isn't clear if it will be very close to the system though so I wouldn't count on there being a fast stockpile of ammo and funds in Mad Max just by beefing up the settlements early and quickly.

I am very excited to see that the combat system for Mad Max looks to be using some of the design from the Batman franchise as well. At least it looks like the free-flow combat is in the works here as Max looks to be seamlessly moving about taking down enemies with ease. None of this is a knock on Avalanche for using other designs for Mad Max. Hells, it is a praise because it looks like they are using what works well in games and putting it all into one great franchise for us all to enjoy. Granted this is all based on what can be seen in the above video so this could just be the way I process the action and not how it will actually be when Mad Max launches.

Lastly, and I mentioned it before, it looks like there is a Thunderdome in Mad Max here. Why wouldn't there be? I am curious if it is going to hold more meaning for the game than just story though. I can easily see it being used as a multiplayer aspect for the game as there really hasn't been much talk on that for Mad Max and it is almost like no games can be made lately without having something like that in the mix. It could just be a battle arena or challenge maps with leader boards though. That is if it is anything more than just there in Mad Max. I don't know why the developers would just have it as background though and not use such an iconic thing for the franchise though.

So what do you think about what you just saw for Mad Max? Does it impress you as it has me or does it leave you wanting more? Does it just make the wait until September 1st that much more grueling? Let us know what you think down in the comments.
