So it is another end of the world scenario at the hands of a disease. A disease that makes you looks like you are part of the crew of the Flying Dutchman. O…k… Maybe there is something more to the overall tale here. Let's see what extra tidbits Naughty Dog has to provide for The Last Of Us.
"Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US." |
So it's quite similar to Enslaved in story just with plague ridden people instead of robots. I mean from the trailer it looks like they are starting on the East coast so they must be taking an Odyssey to the West. Or vice versa. Or maybe this is going to be like I am Legend a bit more. They never did do a video game based off the recent remake with Will Smith. Maybe this is their homage to that story.
Now to put all joking aside, again, the visuals do outshine what has been shown on the PS3 to date. That is if it is to believed that all of the footage was 'in-game' and not pre-rendered. In which case, while the overall story and to be assumed mechanics of the game won't be completely new to the gaming community, how the hardware is being utilized is. So I'll give a pass on the parallels listed above as well as the plethora more I can find based on what we have been show so far. Unless in the next year or two Naughty Dog shows us something to place them back into the stagnation state of churning out sequels just for profit.
