Once a revered deity, Asura was betrayed by his fellow gods and stripped of all his powers. Consumed by anger at the injustice he has suffered and swearing vengeance, Asura discovers he can use this fury to his advantage and turn it against his enemies. |
Sound REALLY close to the opening to God Of War II to me. But hey, at least it is using more of an Asian mythology mixed with sci-fi tone with it. So it is kind of different in some aspect. Kratos never took on anyone in the Asian pantheon as of yet. So Capcom kind of has something new there.
All joking aside.
I am very interested in Asura's Wrath to be honest. The visuals, seen below, do look a lot like the above mentioned, but it is time that we let someone else try to take the genre for a bit. Epic storytelling in an action game can and should be tried by more people. Even if they kind of lifting a huge portion of the concept directly. How else are we going to be able to move on once the GoW franchise finally jumps the shark?
It is also interesting to know that Asura's Wrath will deviate from the traditional distinction between game play and cut scenes. What do I mean? Even in cinematic sequences the player can control Asura, directly affecting the game play. I sure hope that means you can catch the villain monologuing. Especially if you are that angry with them, why would you listen to what they have to say? Seriously.
