Awesomely Epic. Here is what we will be getting for $4.99 on August 3rd.
- Protector Trials: Contains a series of challenges focused on frantic combat and fast-paced action that are designed to push players' mastery of weapons and Plasmids. The goal is simple, but tough to achieve: players must keep their Little Sister safe from the intense onslaught of Splicers as she gathers ADAM from corpses.
- Six new maps: three unique difficulty levels, each based on favorite locales from BioShock 2
- New unlockables: including never-before-seen concept art and videos
- Seven new Achievements/Trophies.
Wait?!? What?!? So I get a bunch of challenges that are just based on the Gathering portion of the base gameplay? One of the more annoying portions of the game. Annoying in the fact that they was no learning curve to it and just got thrust at you even when you just started the game. But that is another article/rant altogether. But this sounds just like the "challenges" they placed in Dante's Inferno. Like someone said, "Hey, we need more 'game' to make people happy. Let's just lock them in a room and force them to fight a bunch of things to meet our settings. That will make it seem longer right?"
Come on 2K. You have so much story still to be told and being told through the multiplayer. Why not use that to add NEW missions to the game via the DLC.
Ok so let's look at the other stuff. New maps and unlockables all based on our favorite locales in BioShock. Wait, so you are just giving us access to the maps that we have already played through and were not included in the full game? It was brought up that you wanted to add in the old locales from BioShock in your interviews, but through DLC, dirty pull. I want new for my money. To that, new videos and concepts don't fly either. Those will all be online free days after one person drops the $5 for this DLC.
Now the final addition, new Trophies/Achievements. Ok, you appealed to my sense of Trophy/Achievement whoring. You just made a sale here. Please surprise me with the other content and not just give what was alluded to in the announcement.
