The demo started off in the rainy village, where Gabriel has come to find leads about the whereabouts of a powerful unnamed entity. As Gabriel rides up on his horse he is sees villagers leaving the town. Once he enters the village he quickly realizes why the villagers are leaving as he is attacked by waves of werewolves.
The controls are really simple. If you have played God of War, Dante's Inferno or any other games like that in the past few years, then you will get used to the controls real easily. You have your Normal Attack, Heavy Attack, Grab and Secondary Attack like the daggers I had in the demo.
Graphically it looks good for the most part, but it does have a few rough edges at moments. The frame rate was all over the place and some of the character models seem to have a low poly count but it certainly have that Castlevania feel. That is always a big plus.
So like I stated earlier, I didn't get to play much of the demo but I did watch someone finish the demo. After the battle in the small town square Gabriel was in, it is quickly followed by a semi-scripted chase scene as Gabriel rode a magical horse whilst being pursued by werewolves riding bigger werewolves. Sounds odd don't it? Afterward the demo ended and I walked away wanting so much more.
My Take:
Even though the demo was really short, it had me wanting more of the game. I am interested on how the story is going to progress. Especially when you have Hideo Kojima working on this game. Castlevania: Lords of Shadows is scheduled to release fall of 2010. It is going to be a day one pick up for me.
