Mytheon Enters Open Beta

Want to get in on the action, well it's easy:

Anyone who registers to play at will be able to immediately play Mytheon

The companies have also announced that there will be a "Champions of Mytheon" Premium package for a short time that will give players the opportunity to access discount currency, exclusive items, coins and previews of upcoming content. Also these players will have early access to "Champions of Mytheon" before launch, and have their real name displayed in the credits under "Champions of Mytheon". Sounds a lot like the Star Trek Online account offerings when they first launched. The only catch is that the premium package is limited to the first 2000 players, and will go on sale early may.

This looks like the new launch scheme for MMO's, to get more players dropping whatever MMO they are currently playing, and make a move to a new title at launch. Offering incentives in the early stages is nothing new, but exclusive access is always something players want to have, and with only 2000 spots to fill, this is extremely exclusive access.

For those not familiar with Mytheon, here's a brief overview of the game:

A Multiplayer Action/RPG with strategic game play where players experience classic mythology come to life and challenge legendary gods to define their own fate. Players, or "Stonecasters," are powerful humans imbued with the ability to cast spells, summon minions, and erect structures that aid them in battle. An assortment of classes are available that approach combat differently and offer a range of unique, cinematic abilities.

Mytheon has been said to be a bridge between "Diablo and Magic the Gathering." From what was shown at GDC this year, they're not too far off. Players that are patiently awaiting Diablo III, may find some satisfaction in this game. The online aspect is always a plus, and hopefully this can make a stand in a market so saturated by MMO's.
