Blizzard announces Starcraft II: Collectors Edition

The Standard edition will retail for $59.99 and will be downloadable from the Blizzard store shortly after it's release. The Collector's Edition will retail at $99.99 and sold only in stores. But the Bonus items are totally worth every penny.

"We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe with our players for over 10 years, and we wanted to offer an epic collector's edition that commemorated the occasion," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "This special version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty -- easily our biggest collector's edition to date -- does just that, and we think StarCraft II gamers will really enjoy all of the exclusive contents."

So I am sure your asking yourself right now, why spend the extra money? Well here are a few good reasons. There is a 2GB USB flash drive that looks like Jim Raynor's dog tags and already preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set ready for play. It's like buying three titles in one! There is a behind-the-scenes DVD which is a must have for any Starcraft fan, as well as the Wings of Liberty Soundtrack. If reading is more your thing (or just looking at pretty pictures) you get an issue of the Starcraft Comic book issue #0 and The Art of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty 176-page book.

But wait there is more! Players will have access to exclusive Battle.net down loadable content. Like portraits for your profile, decals to customize in-game units and a unique version of the Terran Thor unit. Speaking of Thor units, the Collectors edition has a mini Thor in-game pet for all you World of Warcraft pet collectors out there.

So for a hundred bucks Blizzard has packed more swag into this collectors edition then ever before, and like I said before, worth every penny.
