Nintendo has announced that they will have more information regarding their new 3DS at E3 on June 15th. Nintendo is claiming that players will need no special eye wear in order to enjoy the tasty 3D game experience. The new 3DS will be backwards compatible with Nintendo DS and DSi games.
According to the press release, they are planning on an early 2011 release date. This press release looks very vague for my taste, but there have been rumors as well as certain patents that have been released in the past months that could verify what we are hearing. People have been speculating the release of a new Nintendo DS system since early this year. Not much else is known about the new device but I am sure it will be the talk of E3 this year.
With so many hardware changes coming to current consoles (Sony's Move, XBox Project Natal) and a new gaming device readily available for development entering the market (see iPad), it is no surprise that Nintendo is taking the next step in hand held gaming to get a leg up on the competition.
