38 Studios Finds A Publisher With EA

38 Studios, LLC is the enterprise of Curt Schilling (World Series MVP) and the creative minds of R.A. Salvatore (of Drizzt fame) and Todd McFarlane (Spawn anyone?) . 38 Studios has been working on an epic fantasy title code named 'Project Mercury', under the watchful eye of Ken Rolston, known best for being the lead designer of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Founded in 2006 by Schilling and acquired Big Huge games in 2009 which are best known for their work on Civilization II, Colonization, and Alpha Centauri.

“We are creating an enormous world, with heroes and villains and a rich back story from the brilliant minds of R. A., Todd and Ken at its heart, and I can think of no finer partner than the global powerhouse that is EA Partners. Being able to leverage the expertise of EA's publishing organization to bring our first product to market is a dream come true for 38 Studios.” said Curt Schilling, Founder and Chairman of 38 Studios.

This information comes out of the gate on the first day of the Game Developer Conference. This is an interesting development because originally 38 Studio had announced they were working on an MMO code named "Copernicus", but this title which is being developed by Big Huge Games, will also take place in the same universe as "Copernicus".

Little is known about the game, and 38 Studios has been very tight lipped about the title. With a New York Times Best seller as it's writer and a world renowned Comic book artist directing the artwork, the gaming world is very excited to see what this mysterious studio is going to bring to the table.
