Death by Cube (800 ($10)) is a little gem by Square Enix with a story that suggests a sweet abundance of man's most precious videogame resource, violence, "Leo is a robot, one who awakes to find that he has lost his memory. All he knows is that he must reboot the heroine robot, so he sets forth on a mission hoping to regain his memory. To his surprise, he finds the world is now filled with battalions of enemy robots, drenched in bright red oil, and shooting bullets every direction." [source]
Yes. Bright red oil. Right.
Features:
- Over-the-top action: Faced with an overwhelming number of enemies, retaliate with formidable weapons.
- Defensive abilities: The main character Leo has a special power called "Force." Absorbed bullets can be unleashed as an attack!
- Unlockables: When each stage is completed, you'll get chips that can be used to unlock new player characters. Each player character has a unique characteristic and choosing which character dramatically affects your strategy.
- Online play: Join with up to eight players divided into two teams and fight against each other. Modes include Death match, Domination, and High-score challenge.
The next game is Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment (1200 ($15)). This prequel to the classic Vandal Hearts series looks to continue the tradition of action and strategy provided by it's elder brethren. The story for this title is as such, "On the continent of Sostegaria, two rival kingdoms stand on the brink of war. Caught in the tide of battle is young orphan Tobias Martin. Driven to defend his homeland, and to avenge those already fallen, Tobias enlists with his comrades to fight for peace. But all is not what it seems, and they face a threat far deadlier - and closer - than they know." [source] Now this game comes from a very bloody history, and considering the rating on this title and what the rating entails, I'm fairly sure that legacy will continue.
Features:
- Classic gameplay, expanded and streamlined - Combines the speedy RPG pace of the original Vandal Hearts with improved user mechanics and top-notch presentation.
- One Button Controls – Easy to learn controls
- Strong story - Serving as the prequel to the original Vandal Hearts, Flames of Judgment delivers a rich, focused, and character-driven storyline.
- Multiple endings - The player's actions throughout the game will determine the party's future and more!
- Party members adapt to the player's style of gameplay - Player characters naturally and automatically improve at whatever they do, providing a wide, range of customization options
No word on if there will be milkshakes to drink as DLC in either title.
