Toys"R"Us is launching a new video game trade in program where you can trade any game ever made into gift cards. Yes thats right, wipe off all those old systems in your attic, get your Virtual Boys, NES, and Sega Master systems. There's money just sitting around waiting to be had.
Toys"R"Us announced today they would be launching their new trade in program beginning September 13th nationwide. They are boasting that they will take anything from the old school Intellivision to the lastest and greatest PS3 games and systems for credits. All games traded in will be added to a Toys"R"Us gift card that can be redeemed at any of their locations or online. "The video game trade-in program is another way we're providing customers with additional value when they visit our stores," said Bill Lee, Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Toys"R"Us, U.S. As to what the value of said items will be, there has been no price list released at this time. The catch is, the system or game has to have it's original packing so there is a bar code that can be scanned.
What a great marketing idea! Their are gamers everywhere that have games or systems stuck back in a corner somewhere that had no value, and very few stores would take them. People were resorting to selling there systems on E-bay just to get rid of the junk. Yes i understand Gamestop and Gamecrazy have the same type of trade in system, but they are not gonna take my copy of Pitfall from 1982. So what about you readers? Any games or systems you've been dying to get off your hands? Keep an eye out in your local newspapers for advertisments on the new program starting September 13th 2009.
