More Than Meets the Eye

As I mentioned, multiplayer is probably the only thing that has me even remotely interested in ROTF so it’s nice to see that a lot of the downloadable content is targeted on bolstering that part of the game. There will be a combination of 10 new multiplayer characters and skins. Among them Sideswipe and Soundwave will become playable for the Autobots and Decepticons respectively. Also Optimus Prime and Starscream will be receiving makeovers as their G1 versions are set to be included as skins. There will also be 3 new multiplayer maps included in the pack.

Besides multiplayer, the single player campaigns will also be extended to a certain degree as new characters for both the Autobots and Decepticons will be playable during the single-player mode. An all-new Expert difficulty setting will challenge Transformers fans while new Trophies and Achievements will give players something more to work towards. The downloadable pack will only be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, and although there is no official date other than “Late Summer” and no price has been set yet, I will say that I think there is a good amount of content that’s going to be included. I personally don’t think that this is going to be the saving grace that will have copies of ROTF flying off of store shelves, but at least it’s nice to see Activision and Luxoflux supporting their game and giving fans a little something extra. Now if only they’d be willing to take a page out of the Unreal Tournament III book and make it available for free, then we’d really have something to talk about.
