Riot Games is bringing a new Real Time Strategy game to the field with League of Legends: Clash of Fates. This is a free online game, which made it's debut at E3 this year. According to the website:
League of Legends is a competitive online game set in an imaginative world. Gamers take the role of a powerful Summoner, calling forth and controlling brave Champions in battle. League of Legends combines the best elements of session-based games with persistent elements of MMORPG's. Enter the Fields of Justice with your most trusted allies as you fight for your right to rule the world of Valoran. There is only one rule of law among those in the league: Winner rules all. |
LoL:CoF is getting its best RTS elements from a little mod from Warcraft III. You may have heard of it: Defense of the Ancients (DotA). Theres a song in there somewhere...
The gameplay is simple. Two teams fight to destroy towers and the winner is whoever conquers their opposition. Players take summoners out into battle and can summon some pretty cool champions to control around the field. Each champion is unique in look, attacks, and abilities for a little change in flavor depending on situation.
The game is slated to be released in September and there are sign ups for the beta as i am typing this. I know there are a lot of players out there in the RTS world, chomping at the bit, waiting for Starcraft II to be released. I thought I would share this little gem and whet the players' appetite. With the game also being free, it's really hard to overlook.
