Fable
Quickly after the tease of Fable’s gameplay, we have a deeper dive into the gameplay that Fable will offer this Autumn
I hate when there are teasers for things dropped just before they drop the full thing without much of a split in timelines, as we just had with Fable. We had a little bit right out of the gate from Playground Games for the gameplay to speculate on, all as they were pushing the fact that the game will be landing this Autumn on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That is all great news, but it leaves so many wanting for something truly groundbreaking to look at for Fable. Something that is not out there for us all to look at, as we have a true gameplay overview for the game right now. Also, it is straight from the horse's mouth and not something regurgitated by any of the speculation sites. That all said, let us have a look at what we should have had if they chose not to try and hype us up with PR and gave us a look at the game right away. Gods, I hate marketing…
Given that this Fable is coming from a fully different studio, we would normally expect that there might be some massive differences from what was expected. While there are some in the game, a good portion of the core gameplay mechanics we have grown to love for the IP are still in there. Like the fact that we will be starting from birth and growing the dynamic world over the course of it all. A world that we will need to explore, fight, and grow cities in as we play it all. One that will change based on the different choices we make in Fable, with the big one, pun intended, surrounding a giant that we can kill in the story. At least, if we do kill it, the body will persist and cause housing prices to fluctuate in the game. Which is something that the following gameplay spends a lot of time on for some reason. Like, there is a lot of emphasis on us being a slum lord or a great landlord in the game, if we so choose to do any of that. All of it does sound like it is optional as we play through the game, and the option is what we all loved best about the past titles in the line.
Fable — Gameplay Overview
Fable is coming in Autumn 2026.
Become the Hero you want to be in an immersive open-world action-RPG where each choice shapes your journey, reputation is everything, and fairytale endings are never guaranteed.
Check out the best look yet at Playground Games’ Fable from Xbox’s latest Developer_Direct, which also included the big reveal that the much-anticipated game will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC in Autumn 2026. In this deep dive, see how you will grow from a kid to the first hero Albion has seen in a generation. Following a mysterious stranger turning your grandmother and others into stone, you’ll embark on a journey that will be defined by you. And yes, your journey will take you to Bowerstone, put you face-to-face with new and familiar enemies like the giant fire-breathing chicken known as a Cockatrice, and making choices that will change this land and the people’s view of you, forever.
Is this what you were expecting yesterday for Fable after the short bit of teaser footage we had, and do you also hate that marketing tries to hype things in this way? How many other massive choices will we have in the game, or will this giant one be the only try at world-changing things we can do in this aspect? Will you be looking into playing the housing market game here, or will you head into the fantasy fights and exploration more than anything? Let us have those thoughts to discuss in the comment section further down the page here. More should be on the way, hopefully in a timely manner, for Fable, so please keep on checking the website and our social channels to see and hear all about that. We hate to do speculation on the site here, but these marketing teams sure do like to tease you all into spending money before you get the full details. Please do not fall for that bullshit and keep checking for the full news before you let your excitement have you spend money on a trash game.
