The 18th Attic
The launch is here for The 18th Attic, and we all need to grab our kittens & cameras as we head up to The 18th Attic
It may seem as if we had the release dates a bit off for The 18th Attic, as the day is now here. Not that we had it down as too far off, but maybe Steelkrill Studio had a chance to drop it a bit earlier than we thought on the PC. This is why we had to make sure we had the announcement that The 18th Attic has now launched out there up on the site. We wouldn't want any of you to miss out on this horror title that will have us hunting ghosts with a camera while also petting a kitty along the way. We all know how the world and the internet like to do at least half of that. The other half, probably as long as it is in a video game form, which is now possible if the game has caught your eye before now.
Now, those looking to get a bit of ghost hunting down can do so in The 18th Attic as the game will play out familiarly to some. That being said, we'll be wandering about hunting down these ghosts with a paranormal Polaroid camera that will capture them, and a few little extra things hidden in the environment. Things that might be able to drive some of us mad and cause some hallucinations if we aren't careful. That is where the cat petting aspect of The 18th Attic comes in. To help soothe the mind and regain some of that sanity lost, we will have to pet our fully customizable kitty to help get things back to normal. At least, as normal as possible in a game with the premise that this one has for us. Have a look at a little bit of the horrors that are coming in the following video to get a feeling of how it all might play out once you grab the game.
The 18th Attic — Launch Trailer
The 18th Attic, developed by Steelkrill Studio, the creators of The Backrooms 1998, has officially launched on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, delivering a chilling paranormal investigation experience with a unique twist on sanity mechanics.
In The 18th Attic, players step into a haunted attic filled with ghosts. Armed only with a Polaroid camera, players must hunt ghosts by capturing photographic evidence - revealing entities that may not be visible to the naked eye. Each snapshot uncovers secrets, threats, and hidden dimensions of the attic’s dark history.
A standout feature of The 18th Attic is its sanity system, where players must pet their customizable cat companion to restore mental stability. As fear and hallucinations intensify, bonding with the cat becomes a vital survival mechanic - blending psychological horror with unexpectedly wholesome moments.
Key Features:
- Ghost Hunting Through Photography - Capture paranormal entities using a Polaroid camera and uncover hidden layers of the environment.
- Sanity Restoration Via Petting - Calm your character by interacting with your cat, preventing terrifying hallucinations and distorted reality.
- Fully Customizable Cat Companion - Personalize your feline friend’s appearance.
Have you been waiting for The 18th Attic to release out there for a while now? What do you think will be used to cause the insanity effects as we lose it out there? Will we be able to make the cat truly look like any that we might have in the real world? Are you expecting there to be a level of Egyptian theming going on in the grand scheme of the game due to the use of the cat? Let's talk all about this in the comment section further down the page here. For now, this feels like all that we'll have for The 18th Attic, but if there's more, we'll have it on the site for you. Follow along here and on all of our socials to make sure you catch every update that we'll have out there for you. So many are still to come in the following weeks.
