Resident Evil Requiem Puts Some Rumors To Rest With Its Dual Protagonists

Resident Evil

A blast from the Resident Evil of the past will be out there in the action of the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem

When it comes to keeping secrets, it feels as if Capcom just cannot keep things under wraps, as The Game Awards confirmed the rumor that Leon was going to be in Resident Evil Requiem. Not just in the game when it launches on February 27th for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC, but he will be one of the main characters we will need to play in the game. Yes, Resident Evil Requiem will have the dual protagonist system that we have seen in a few of the games from the past. All to give us a bit of an intertwining story along the way and fill in parts that Grace would not be able to handle. There also seems to be a good reason for that, and not just "video game logic." That is the more interesting part of this announcement, and look that we have at the game out of the show. Let us dig in.

As this is not the first time we have seen a dual protagonist run in a Resident Evil game, this is going to feel a little old hat for some. Those new to it all, that means we are going to play one half of the story in the shoes of Grace and the other half of the story in the shoes of Leon. Sometimes those paths will cross, but something will always break the duo up to keep the game going. The second game made this popular, but it has been around since the first one. What will be interesting, and a better reason for the two to keep on different paths, though, is that Grace's story will be leaning more into the survival horror side of things in Resident Evil Requiem, since she will be more of the investigator, and Leon's will be the action horror side of it all. Leon, having been to this rodeo so many times, is perfectly suited for it. So, not only to keep the pacing going, but to make sure that those who want the action can have it, and those who loved that they were going back to the horror roots can still have that. Here is a little look at the story and some of that action now.

Resident Evil Requiem — Grace Ashcroft & Leon S. Kennedy

Prepare yourself for a double dose of terror and action when Resident Evil Requiem releases to the world on February 27, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam with the fate of two protagonists – Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy – intertwined as they investigate a series of strange deaths that may just lead to uncovering the hidden truth behind the infamous 1998 Raccoon City Incident. Revealed at The Game Awards 2025, the legendary Leon S. Kennedy kicks the action up a notch, as he begins investigating a dead body found in an abandoned hotel – the same hotel that FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft is simultaneously investigating.

Dual protagonists in Resident Evil Requiem will provide a blend of gameplay that will shake the very core of players’ souls, with Leon handling business via exhilarating, death-defying action, while Grace steels herself through spine-tingling survival horror.
