A New Ride Is Announced Out There As We Take The Silent Road

Silent Road

A new horror title, Silent Road, has been announced with Silent Road having us drive a very dark stretch in an infamous location

Get ready to have one of the weirdest and darkest taxi simulation titles out there in the world with the announcement for Silent Road. A new title on the way to the PC from Endflame that is part taxi driving game, first-person horror, and potentially a little insensitive. I say that as Silent Road will have us all driving in the area of Japan where the suicide forest is located. You might know the one from all of the "influencers" trying to gain clout by doing messed-up things. That was a while ago, so maybe not, but that doesn't change the fact that we are out there in this game. Although some of the other game mechanics might be something that can be a saving grace for the end of the game cycle.

Now that the darkness and potentially controversial aspect have been addressed, what is the point behind Silent Road and potentially the saving grace? Well, it looks like we will be driving around, picking up passengers, and then choosing to do random tasks for them at some point during the ride. There aren't details on what those will be, but given that the passengers will get stranger as the night goes on, maybe they are ways to keep people from actually using the forest for what others are doing out there. That, or since it is based on the Silent Hill games, maybe Silent Road will allow us to help the living not go through with things, and the dead pass on to the next realm. Unless this goes insanely dark and has them all trying to drag us down with them to whichever state they happen to be in. Have a look at the following announcement, but take note that it does have some very disturbing visuals in the mix.

Silent Road — Announcement

Endflame announced Silent Road, a first-person psychological horror game set deep within a remote Japanese forest region infamous for its long history of suicides. The reveal is accompanied by the game’s first announcement trailer, offering a glimpse at the unsettling nights awaiting players behind the wheel.

In Silent Road, you take on the role of a night-shift taxi driver navigating lonely forest routes and isolated villages. Each fare becomes a new test of nerve: peculiar passengers, whispered stories, and quiet conversations that turn colder with every mile. As the night unfolds and through tense rides, chilling encounters, and environmental clues scattered along the way, the truth behind the forest begins to emerge.

Visually, the game draws inspiration from classic Japanese horror aesthetics, echoing the likes of Silent Hill f and Fatal Frame, with its fog-drenched roads and eerie atmosphere.

Key Features:

  • Japanese Horror: Experience a region shaped by tragedy, inspired by legends surrounding Japan’s most haunted forests.
  • Night-Shift Driving: Navigate abandoned highways, mountain passes, and silent village streets as tension builds inside the taxi.
  • Strange Passengers: Pick up peculiar characters whose stories grow more disturbing with every encounter. Prepare yourself for whoever (or whatever) steps into your taxi.
  • Unsettling Requests: Exit the vehicle to assist passengers during their rides - simple tasks that never feel safe.

Silent Road is currently in development for PC via Steam.

Where do you fall on what Silent Road will be asking us all to do? Will the lower-end visuals of the game help keep some of the horrors a little less shocking for some? Will we actually get to prevent some deaths along the way if we do these tasks? How weird will the passengers and their requests get over the course of the night? Let's discuss all of that in a civil way down in the comment section. It is hard to say what we are going to have for Silent Road moving forward, based on what the game is actually about. If we do, we'll certainly inform you through the site and our socials. So, please follow along on all of those, so you don't miss out on a single update that we have.
