WILL
Have a walk around with Will as we see the latest gameplay on the way to us for WILL: Follow The Light
After us all waiting a few good months to see anything more for WILL: Follow The Light since its Gamescom reveal, we are finally back and ready to see some true gameplay for the game. It has been a while, so you might have forgotten what TomorrowHead Studio was cooking up for us all, but as the Future Games Show has come and gone, we get to walk through it all. All as we get a feel for what Will is going to be all about and the dark story that is on the way to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when all is said and done. With no more holding back, let us see the latest gameplay and if it will pull us all the way in and want to play all that this has to offer up.
From the original announcement for WILL: Follow The Light, it was known this was going to be a title that had us out there exploring the world and going on a cinematic adventure solving puzzles along the way. This new look at the game, does not do too much to show all of that off with it mostly being looks at the world in-engine and us walking around in it. Given that this is slated to be more than a walking simulation game, it is weird to see that there is little gameplay based on that. Maybe the different colored lights we will have are going to offer up some of the puzzle elements. It does also look like we might have to control the boat and other vehicles in the game too, but this is not a driving game, so those sequences might be on the shorter side of things and offering up something to do besides watching the story play out. Have a solid look at all of that just a little lower down the page there.
WILL: Follow The Light — First Gameplay
TomorrowHead Studio has revealed the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming narrative adventure, WILL: Follow The Light, on the Future Games Show. WILL: Follow The Light is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
The new gameplay trailer offers players a first look at environments and characters from Will’s ruined hometown where a community tries desperately to recover, showcases the game’s simulated yacht controls and open seas, reveals the first puzzle gameplay and navigation, and highlights WILL: Follow The Light’s spectacular vistas set beneath the calm of the northern lights.
WILL: Follow The Light is a story-driven, first-person adventure puzzle game about a perilous personal journey through the harsh northern latitudes. To find peace and reunite with his family, Will must sail across endless waters, face numerous challenges, and ultimately discover himself.
Players assume the role of Will, a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in the northern seas. The story begins during one of Will’s lonely shifts when an unexpected radio message shatters the routine: a sudden disaster has struck his hometown, and his only son is missing. Determined to find him, Will sets out on a journey aboard his sailing yacht, “Molly.”
WILL: Follow The Light blends classic walking-sim gameplay with puzzles, set-piece moments, and original and lifelike traversal systems on the sea and on land. As players progress, they will solve puzzles rooted in real life, take to the seas in a realistic sailing yacht, chart their path using an authentic weather station and lifelike navigation system, and traverse snowy trails by dog sled in search of answers.
WILL: Follow The Light features:
- A Stunning Northern Wilderness – breathtaking northern landscapes on land and sea, brought to life in Unreal Engine 5.
- Deep Exploration & Traversal Systems – realistic sailing and dog sledding mechanics allow players to explore a vast world.
- A Story Of Fathers & Sons – a compelling narrative adventure in a mysterious setting, with puzzles, secrets, and revelations in every chapter.
- A Cinematic Adventure – experience Will’s story through narration and environmental storytelling.
- Challenging Puzzles & Challenges – discover immersive puzzles and set-piece moments.
- Original Soundtrack – an atmospheric blend of experimental textures and unique instruments, seamlessly weaving character themes into the world’s musical narrative.
Is it always weird to get "gameplay" footage that does not show true gameplay or is this truly how WILL: Follow The Light will handle out there? Are we going to need to use the different colored lights to do more with the puzzles or is that going to be something vastly different? How involved are the driving sequences going to be in the game with what we have to see here today? Sail on down the page to the comment section leave all of those thoughts and start up the fun discussion around all of that. More for WILL: Follow The Light is going to be on the way soon, so please keep on checking in here to stay as up-to-date on all of that as is possible.
