Scholar’s Mate
A new horror title, Scholar’s Mate, will be dropping this month with Scholar’s Mate placing some in the scariest escape room ever
Those out there who might enjoy going through escape rooms and horror games, you might want to take note of the upcoming Scholar’s Mate, A title that JanduSoft has been working on for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. One that is also coming on May 30th for us all to experience when we are placed into the shoes of Judith in Scholar’s Mate. Shoes that also place us into being kidnapped and forced to escape a hospital before getting ourselves perished out there. Just like many of the horror games out there but with the twist that we will have some fun escape room elements added into things too.
That last part does feel like something that many horror games do have and not something specific to Scholar’s Mate, but I could be wrong. It is most likely to explain why our killer, Eddy, has set up some weird things to unlock so Judith will be able to make it out alive. All while staying hidden and running for our lives in the game. The trailer does make it look as if Eddy is able to track us non-stop, which is odd, but it will leave some of the pressure on us in Scholar’s Mate, so it is a solid gameplay addition. Even if it would be nice and easy to end things by allowing us to fight back in the game instead of just running.

I am a bit curious about why so many games like Scholar’s Mate lean into the non-violent aspect for our protagonists out there. That is, at least beyond a gameplay balance thing. The horror would be over quickly if our final girl kills the killer right out the gate, sure, but in many cases, I can see the most pacifistic of humans still fighting for their lives as soon as they realize there is no other option. Especially when you look around in Scholar’s Mate and see so many things that could be an improvised weapon out there. Maybe I am just expecting too much and need to kick back and just enjoy the horror for what it is, though.
What are you thinking about Scholar’s Mate based on what we have to share here and will it be another horror title to add into your mix? Would it break the game to fully allow Judith to fight back or will that always just add to the horror know you cannot? Will there be a good reason we cannot just give Eddy the slip in the game or will it just need to be that Eddy always finds us to keep the pacing? Run on down to the comment section to discuss all of those thoughts you might have running in your head there. If we have more to share for Scholar’s Mate, we will try to add it to the site for you. Please keep an eye out for all of those updates and more.
