Dune

Go behind the scenes for Dune: Awakening with a new look at how the game is brought to life from the pages of Dune

It has been a solid stint of time since we had something big for Dune: Awakening, and with the release of the latest film, it looks as if Funcom is ready to have all of that out to us. At least in a way of taking us behind the scenes to see how the digital world of the game is being crafted and how it will be brought to life using the recent Dune films, as well as the books, to help give fans a true experience out there. At least when this MMO does land out there on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A timeline that might still be a bit of a wait for those looking to get more of a spice fix after the most recent outing for the IP.

While this is a behind-the-scenes video or two for Dune: Awakening, there is a solid look at some of the gameplay and how the world is going to look when all is said and done. A solid look at one that feels as if it was lifted directly from the films to place the users right into the mix of things. Including having a sandworm attack right from the start to help set a tone for what else we can expect in Dune: Awakening. All using the Unreal 5 Engine to bring the desert and other aspects of the world alive. I do say world, since it looks like this will be the only part of the game we will get to focus on as we craft and survive the various other dangers out there. I am sure the massive fans of the IP will love every bit of it all.

Dune: Awakening — Survive Arrakis

Dune: Awakening combines the grit and creativity of sandbox survival games with the social interactivity of a large, persistent multiplayer game to create a unique and ambitious Open World Survival MMO.

I am sure that all of those out there who are massive fans of Dune will be diving into all of this on day one. For me, outside of looking pretty and using some of the great tech that is out there, it seems a bit of a basic thing to run around a desert to harvest things. Unless all of the other intrigue and combat will be built up in other ways. Maybe I am just missing something here, but that is my take so far. I might see something in Dune: Awakening that will get me to move from being a real-world desert rat into a digital one. That could be coming down the pipe, but we will have to wait to see how that all pans out if and when it does.

Are you overly excited to play in the deserts of Dune again or will this be a title that only hits a very small community of gamers out there? Will there be more added into the game that is not in the source material or will it all be the warring factions and massive worms out there for us to worry about? How quickly will some of our encampments fall due to these dangers and will we be able to call them all down on our own? Head down to the comment section to fight all of that out and discuss. When we have more to share for Dune: Awakening, it will be up on the site as soon as we can get it out there. Please come on back to see and hear about all of that is it does.
