Silent Hill
A look at the new Silent Hill 2 remake is out there to give us a feeling of the combat we will endure in Silent Hill 2
I do hope you are ready to pick up the fight in the world of Silent Hill 2, as that is just what it seems like we are going to be doing in the game once more. This is not a huge deviation or something that Bloober Team has made up just for the remake here, but a look at how they are aiming to improve it from the original version that Konami had out there so long ago. That would be the point of a remake in most cases. This all leads us to what we have for the Silent Hill 2 remake and a short look at the game with a bigger focus on the action and combat we will have to go with when the horrors start to creep on in from the fog.
It will most likely come as no surprise, but the combat we are going to have in Silent Hill 2 looks a lot like that of the many other remakes of the third-person survival horror games out there. A mix of melee and firearms to keep all of the weird monsters at bay or to distract them long enough for us to run. The more interesting part of all of this is the look at the redesign of some of the creatures we will be facing in Silent Hill 2 again. Some looking and feeling as bland as they did before, but that was the point of the story, while also getting to see the iconic body horror the IP is known for. Even if it is a bit odd to see the shadows of the world playing a larger role in this than the fog does. That could just be the sections of the game we are shown, though, as we did have quite a few bits that were placed inside where the fog would not be. Have a look and see if it holds up for you.
Silent Hill 2 Remake — Combat Reveal
Take a look at the new gameplay footage in this trailer, including what to expect from the improved and modernized combat.
Having received a letter from his deceased wife. James heads to where they shared so many memories in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill. There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her…
"My name… is Maria," the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her.

I have no real complaints about the state of the combat we have to see here for the Silent Hill 2 remake so far. It does look as if the teams have made things flow a lot smoother than the game did back on the earlier platforms and are leaning into what works in the newer titles out there. I was hoping to maybe see more detail on some of the monsters and horrors wandering around the streets and buildings of Silent Hill, but at the same time, I understand leaving some looking like flesh blobs. Not only for the nostalgia of the IP but, as mentioned, because it fits with the overall story of the game. There is still time for the models and textures to get upgraded, though, so maybe this was just to start the hype rolling before they blow our minds as we have seen them do in their other titles from the past. I will sit and wait with excitement.
Does this get you excited to wander the streets of Silent Hill one more time or is it still too early to be certain of that? Do you think this will be the normal format for many of the survival horror games going forward when it comes to combat or does it work for these few titles currently? How do you feel about the body horror and visuals of it all as it stands? Head into the comment section to discuss all of this and let the world know what is on your mind. We know there is more to come for the Silent Hill 2 remake, and we are going to have every bit of it here for you.
