Exoborne
The announcement for Exoborne is here to show us a flashy new apocalypse that Exoborne will soon bring
The world is ending… again… and this time we have Exoborne to look at for the reason for it. Not in a real-world kind of way but in the way of the latest title that Sharkmob and Level Infinite are working on to give us all a new experience on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. All with the good news that Exoborne's apocalypse does not look like it will be zombie-based. No, it will be environmentally based, and with the world claiming everything back from humanity… Okay, that is getting a little too close to home for this planet so I might have to recant what I said before. That or dig in to see how this will show us the signs of why humans destroying Earth will just end poorly in general.
We do have a nice little announcement trailer for Exoborne just below, but it is all flash and only shows off some of the chaos the world is in during the game events. Just as we usually get during the big commercial events out there where things are just announced. What do not get to truly see here, though, is that it is going to be a tactical shooter title in an open-world setting. An open world that will also focus on some of the chaos of nature and the new world dynamics to add some verticality to the combat in the game. All with Exoborne leaning in on the various living factions on the planet still fighting over everything to survive for themselves. Another sign that humanity is just the worst as they need the Exo-rig technology to just fight instead of help each other to actually survive. The latter most likely would not give us an engaging video game, though.
Exoborne — Announcement
Are you ready to master the apocalypse?
Gear up, get in, and get out in Exoborne, a tactical open-world extraction shooter set in an apocalyptic U.S. transformed by extreme forces of nature. Lay it all on the line and explore a dynamic world full of warring factions and hostile players, where you scavenge, craft, and fight to stay alive.
If it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for. Since the Collapse, resources are scarce and enemies are everywhere. Big risks can yield big rewards, which you’ll need to survive in this hostile world. You’ll face warring factions, enemy players, and extreme forces of nature. The idea is simple: bring back more than you lose.
In Exoborne, you will take on the role of a Reborn, an extraordinary survivor fitted with implants enabling you to use powerful Exo-Rigs. Equipped with this technology, you will fight to survive and thrive in a world plagued by warring factions, deadly elemental chaos, and other hostile Reborn. You will explore a part of the southeastern US, being torn apart by extreme forces of nature. Ever-changing threats by the world itself, and risky missions let you write your own stories each time you enter the world of Exoborne – like having an epic gunfight in a tornado.
Exoborne is the ultimate apocalyptic power fantasy!
Here are some key features that you can expect in Exoborne:
- Forces of Nature will make you fight through deadly elemental chaos and adapt to the world’s constantly changing conditions.
- Exo-Rigs unlock powerful abilities, not only enhancing vertical movement but also the raw powers of nature to your advantage when chosen wisely.
- Verticality is key in a world turned upside down by the extreme forces of nature allowing for all new exploration and combat experiences.
- Public events and missions raise the stakes and opportunities, allowing you to choose your own challenge.
- Crafting and Customising enables you to take your own path within the game by exploring the world with new gear and equipment of your choosing.
- Extraction gameplay gives you the opportunity to risk it all for greater rewards or play it safe – in the end the choice is up to you!
- Thrilling storyline holds many secrets for you to uncover and evolves as you progress through the game.
I am holding off reservations about Exoborne until we actually get to see some gameplay for the game and not an amazing cut scene for it all. The world and combat sound fun to play with when it is just text, but if some of the fights are to play out as we see here, it could get chaotic in a bad way rather quickly. That is the way of the Southeastern part of the United States, sure, but not a game I think I could get into with some ease. With any luck, Exoborne will not make us wait too long to get that gameplay so we can better understand what we will be doing and not wonder why all of these cyborgs are hitting, cutting, and shooting each other instead. If only we could wait until there was something real to show off for our games and not always drop a flashy trailer to say that gameplay is still coming…
Where do you stand on Exoborne at this point and will you be keeping a close eye on it moving forward? Do you think that the chaos that the environment will add in will be something fun to play with or will it add to a lot of broken controllers during play? Will humans in these games ever just truly team up to make a better world or are they always destined to fight over dumb beliefs so they can be the ones that survive? Fight it all out in the comment section and then discuss it all until the Earth swallows us all. We will have our eyes on Exoborne moving forward, so be sure to keep your eyes here to see and hear about any of the progress the game is making along the way.
