Hellboy
See Hellboy in action with the first minutes we are going to have in the upcoming Hellboy Web Of Wyrd
The upcoming Hellboy Web Of Wyrd is almost here with October 4th coming up soon. This is when we will all be able to give the game a go on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC but Upstream Arcade wanted to give us a little bit more before then. Actually, a whole lot more so we can see just how Hellboy Web Of Wyrd is going to play out there. Here we go with the first sixteen minutes of the game so we can see how this rogue-lite will function. Something that the trailers have not done the best job of showing off for us over here. Now we can dive right in and see.
Right out of the gate here, Hellboy Web Of Wyrd looks like it is going to flow just as many other brawler titles out there. More so as we get to see him use his fist more than his gun in the fight. A whole lot of dodging and swinging while slowly upgrading everything else along the way. All with some of the upgrades and perks making a massive deal to carry over and others feeling like it is just Hellboy unlocking what he always had from the start. This is always an issue with a game that places us in the role of a hero who has been working hard at their skills for quite some time. We will ignore some of that for now and just enjoy the punching and rolling out there.
Hellboy Web Of Wyrd — First 16 Minutes Of Gameplay
Enjoy the first 16 minutes of Hellboy Web Of Wyrd, the upcoming third-person beat-'em-up roguelike from developer Upstream Arcade in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. It will be released on October 4 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Hellboy Web Of Wyrd is a rogue-lite action adventure with an original story created in partnership with Dark Horse Comics and creator Mike Mignola.
Featuring monstrous toe-to-toe brawling, you need to chain together hard-hitting melee and ranged attacks to fight a diverse array of increasingly nightmarish enemies.
Like the comics, the game sends Hellboy on a series of vastly different and wholly unique adventures. While those stories stand on their own, they are all tied to the mysterious legacy of The Butterfly House. When an agent of the B.P.R.D. is sent on a reconnaissance mission to the mansion and promptly goes missing. It’s up to you - Hellboy - and your team of Bureau agents to find your missing colleague and uncover the secrets of The Butterfly House.
Welcome to the Butterfly House, a mysterious manor of perverse angles and non-Euclidean geometry built by occultist Pasquale Deneveaux to open a gateway to the Wyrd, a vast, interdimensional web of wondrous and horrifying planes of existence beyond our world. When a B.P.R.D. agent vanishes inside the mansion, it’s up to Hellboy and his team of agents to uncover its forbidden secrets.
Journey into the deepest realms of the Wyrd, each hiding a unique investigation into the unknown. Battle powerful creatures in search of forgotten god forms and magnificent treasures, but beware: ancient evil festers within the Wyrd’s darkest reaches… evil that wants out.
Key Game Features:
- An Authentic Comic Adaptation: Experience gripping storytelling, visuals, and atmosphere that evoke the distinct style of the original comics, crafted in collaboration with series creator Mike Mignola. Every moment looks and feels like it was ripped right from the comics.
- A New Story Inspired By The Hellboy Universe: Unravel a sprawling, spine-tingling original adventure true to the spirit of the comics and brought to life with the illustrious voice of Lance Reddick as Hellboy.
- Become The Legendary Hellboy: Explore the secret depths of the Wyrd, discovering wonders and terrors beyond your imagination. Chain together hard-hitting melee and ranged attacks in challenging combat against a nightmarish menagerie of otherworldly monsters to survive.
Hellboy Web Of Wyrd is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
I am a little confused as to the reason some of the grunt enemies just stand around while Hellboy punches everything else out there. It is almost as if they are here to refill our health and armor in the game. If you watch again, if you did not notice, there were many times Hellboy was surrounded by these lesser enemies only to have to worry about the bigger enemy only. It is odd and feels like it will be a way to make the game easier than anything. Not a terrible thing, but not something that is going to hit well for all of the hardcore rogue-lite fans out there. Even the final fight here boils down to a little bit of dodging and punch over and over. Not much of a variation, but this is early in the game, so maybe it will shift down the line.
How do you feel about how Hellboy is functioning here and is it odd to see the limited use of the gun at the start? Do you think that we will see more difficulty down the line or will it still boil down to following the same dodge and punch structure here? Why do you think the lesser enemies are just standing around or will there be a different thing for all of them? Head into the comment section below to discuss all of this and everything else that we have to offer up. We will have more for Hellboy Web Of Wyrd soon, so please keep on coming back to see and hear all of that in due time here.
