Drummer Walks Us Through A Little Bit Of The Expanse: A Telltale Series

The Expanse

A playthrough of the first episode of The Expanse: A Telltale Series is here with one of the actors from The Expanse helping out

The first episode of The Expanse: A Telltale Series is out there and you can play it on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC as of right now. Although, some of you might be holding off for the full series to be dropped kind of like we used to do back in the heyday of Telltale Games. It is always one of the issues when it comes to games that are launched in an episodic nature. For those that are doing that, but still want to see how The Expanse was shaped up, it is time to dive into thirty minutes of gameplay with the voice behind the protagonist of the game. Just for a little bit of an extra to enjoy while seeing how some of the tutorials and some choices will play out when diving into it all for yourself.

Of course, this all comes with the usual spoiler alert for those trying to experience what this version of The Expanse is going to offer up. Thankfully, it is not majorly needed as this is more of a director and actor commentary on specific scenes and choices during the first part of the game here. A better way to show it all off so fans of The Expanse can experience one of their actors seeing the game for the first time as well as seeing how some of the game will actually play. Not too shocking, but it is close to how we have been expecting with all of the team's titles in the past. This is a good thing as I was a little worried that they were going to deviate from the winning form they have had for so long now.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series — Drummer Plays Episode One [Part One]

The Expanse: A Telltale Series throws you straight into the magboots of XO Camina Drummer as she scavenges wrecked ships, survives a mutiny, and combats fearsome pirates.

True to Telltale style, the game has you making critical decisions throughout, but we got to wondering… what would Drummer do?

To settle our curiosity, Cara Gee who plays Drummer in both The Expanse TV series and the Telltale Series, sat down with Stephan Frost, Game Director, for a playthrough of Episode One!

PART TWO COMING SOON

I will say, I am definitely a fan that The Expanse will be allowing us all the time we need to figure out our dialog choices here. At least in the ones we had to see in the above footage. Thus, leaving all of the hard timing to the QTEs we knew were going to be in the mix of the game too. Those do look like they are a little more on the basic side of things with simple button presses, but I have a feeling that is to make the overall game a little more accessible. Even if it does feel like it is more engaging for there to be multiple moves and presses for certain actions. Given that there will most likely be loads of fans of The Expanse coming over, though, it does make sense to give a basic feel for things just in case there are those that want the story but have never played video games like this before.

Are you still waiting for the whole series of The Expanse to drop before diving in or are you going episode by episode? Will there be some harder QTE to have in the game or will they stick to the basics we have here today? Will the same go for the dialog and will there be some that are fully timed events in the mix too? Head on to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else we have going on here. Just keep all of those alerts on and your eyes glued to the screen so you do not miss all of that in short order.
