Float Through A Bit More For The Expanse: A Telltale Series

Expanse

A new behind-the-scenes for The Expanse: A Telltale Series is here to see more on how they are bringing The Expanse to life again

We are getting closer each day to launching out there into The Expanse: A Telltale Series. July 27th is less than a month out from now and we are getting fully amped up for what Telltale Games is working on here. Hells, we have been getting amped up since we first hear the studio was coming back and giving us all these fun narrative experiences again. Mix in the fact of getting a prequel of sorts to The Expanse and you have some solid gold here. Now we just need to get our PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC ready for it all and we can fire off into zero-G with the crew. Something that we get to see here just a bit more in the latest behind-the-scenes video for the game.

Yes, it is another look at how the team is making The Expanse: A Telltale Series. This time how some of the world and motion capture for the game have been handled. Not something that I thought we were going to get a lot of, motion capture, but the team did what to make sure all of the zero and low gravity sections of the game felt right. This is why they built many different rigs to be able to pull and drag their actors around to make sure they had the perfect references. All of this is something one would think they could pull off with just in-game stuff, but they wanted to feel as close to The Expanse as possible even with the non-photorealistic style they opted to take.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series — Building The Belt [BTS]

The second you start your first space walk in The Expanse: A Telltale Series, you see the scope of what’s all around you: The skeleton of a warship, blown apart and adrift in space. Navigating is more than simply walking from point A to point B.

In the latest behind-the-scenes video, the Telltale and Deck Nine teams talk about how they created the environments you'll be exploring, and why they're so important to how you’ll explore the story and expand upon your choices.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series launches July 27th for Epic Game Store, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

All of the motion capture stuff aside, it does look as if the team is capturing the awe and wonder of The Expanse when it comes to the game world builds. This is from the ships, rubble, and even the planets we get to see off in the distance in the game. I do not know if we will get as solid of a look in the game or during the story as we do here, but it is awe-inspiring. If you missed it, have a look again at the above video for The Expanse: A Telltale Series and see just how wonderful this universe is going to be. We all do need some beauty to pull us out of the darkness that is this real world, do we not?

Were you expecting to see a lot of motion capture for this version of The Expanse or is it something we normally ignore when we get non-realistic graphics? How much of the environment are we going to be able to explore out there in the game and will it be more than just quick looks as we get ushered through things? Would you want to have a photo mode in this game so we can better capture these things or will we be able to do all of that without that mode? Float on down to the comment section and then feel free to discuss it all as you so wish to do. We will share all that we can for The Expanse: A Telltale Series, so please keep a close eye on the site for all of that and everything else we can find for you.
