Things are still flowing out there for Frogwares given the horrible situation going on over there, and we are getting a little more to look at for Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. There is still no release date for the game, given the hard times they are going through, but it is still heading to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. That all said, now, we have a little more to look at for this Sherlock Holmes remake and more on how things are going to be the same and changed to make the experience much better. Well, at least trying to make it all feel like it is a better experience than what we had back in 2006.
If you have been paying attention to everything we have had for Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened up to now, there is not much in the way of new information offered up for the game here. There is a whole lot of new gameplay to look at as we dive into how the duo will be heading out to solve the mysteries and solve some of the hallucinations. Those are the bigger puzzles to keep our young Sherlock on task and bring the dark cult to justice. At least, if Sherlock Holmes cannot do it, we will get a chance to go through it all as Watson and see the other side of the story too. A fun and interesting twist to have in a title like this. Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a Cthulhu meets Sherlock Holmes detective horror adventure. The game acts as a continuation of young Sherlock’s story with Holmes and Watson undertaking their first major case together.
An Eldritch god-obsessed cult is making moves in the shadows to bring about a world-altering prophecy and it’s up to the young detective duo to thwart their plans. This is a creative take on what horror-filled and reality-breaking events could have met our heroes at such a crucial point in their lives to go on and shape them into the characters we all know they become. Delve into the trauma and fear that cements their friendship for good and the revelations that break Sherlock’s mind to create the flawed and haunted genius he is destined to be.
Originally released in 2006, The Awakened is a full remake and substantial rewrite being rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up to run in Unreal Engine 4.
