E3 2012 Impressions: The Elder Scrolls Online
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 15th of June 2012 - 03:53 AM ]
I have to start my impression of Elder Scrolls Online with the disclaimer that I went to check this title out at the behest of the readers on the site. So please forgive me if I speak more in generalities on the game's history and or lore as I just do not know it at all. But at least I have the details and you can all fill in the rest based on that. At least I hope so if you are reading this. But anyways, let's give it a go. Read More...

by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of April 2012 - 04:37 PM ]
…and we're not gonna take it anymore. That may only be slightly paraphrasing the movie Network, but then again, we're gamers, so we'll probably continue to "take it." We're hoping you take and enjoy our latest episode of the Aggrocast as Corey, Brian and Matt talk about the latest news, including the recent announcement for Amazon Instant Video on PS3. The guys also talk about their latest adventures in gaming - including World of Warcraft, iPad games, SNES games, Wheels of Destruction and Mass Effect 2. Learning To Fly Max Payne Style
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of January 2012 - 12:11 AM ]
I swear if we were suppose to figure out what a game is all about from just the screen shots and video shared from companies we would all be way off most of the time. A good example would be the below screen shots from Max Payne 3. It looks like a good mixture of campaign as well as multiplayer mixed in here. So let me take a stab at what I'd say the game is all about based off these. First, it's all about flying around an industrial playground shooting whatever you can. Read More...

Trailer Park 11/22/11
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 22nd of November 2011 - 05:37 PM ]
Since last week's installment of Trailer Park was non-existent, I believe you guys are overdue for a new set of trailers. First up we have a new trailer for EA's SSX coming out on February 14th, 2012. The trailer shows off a lot of game play footage that looks just as insane and hilarious as previous installments, Doing the "Worm" on a snowboard and twirling around like a helicopter are just a couple of the nut job tricks showcased in the trailer. If you plan on pre-ordering SSX then I have some great news for you - pre-order bonuses! If you pre-order from Origin you will get Elise's "elite" snowboard along with a "bonus" boost. Read More...

Scrolls Gets To Keep Its Name
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 20th of October 2011 - 02:25 PM ]
Markus Persson (aka Notch), the man who brought you Minecraft has won a legal battle against ZeniMax Media/Bethesda Softworks. His new project, entitled Scrolls, seems to have caught the attention of one of the big dogs.  The trouble began when a law firm representing ZeniMax contacted Markus saying that he was being sued for having a game title with the likeness to The Elder Scrolls. To be honest, I find that to be just to a bit ridiculous. There is a clear and distinct difference between "Scrolls" and "The Elder Scrolls. Read More...

Bringing The Pain Like Max Payne 3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 29th of April 2011 - 05:28 PM ]
So I'm confused now. Where are all the "demons" or drug induced hallucinations? For that matter Mark Wahlberg? That was what the franchise was all about wasn't it? The film wouldn't deviate that much would it? I defined the whole Max Payne franchise based on that film as I have never played any of the games before. That is a good reference isn't it? When have video game films ever been that far off from the original source? Read More...

Splinter Cell's Departure From Stealth Is Due To Accessibility
by Brian Goodman [ Wednesday, 14th of April 2010 - 12:20 AM ]
In an interview with Edge magazine Max Beland, new (as of 2008) Ubisoft Montreal executive describes how many people found the stealth based gameplay of previous Splinter Cell titles, mainly Chaos Theory and Double Agent, too much for the casual crowd. Despite high critical praise of past entries in the series, Beland feels that the way to more people's game libraries and to expand the Splinter Cell brand is to focus more on brutal action sequences and less on specific stealth, which he referred to as "good and fun stealth gameplay, but its hardcore." Refresh my memory but when did exciting, intense stealth based action games start being marketed to the Guitar Hero crowd? I enjoy my casual titles as much as the next person, but it sets a very dangerous precedent when major developers and publishers begin changing proven, unique, and popular gameplay mechanics to try and take a "hardcore" property to a more "casual", mainstream crowd. ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, of Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls fame, has purchased id Software, of Doom, Wolfenstein, Quake, and Commander Keen fame. The move was surprising, as more people have been questioning who was going to buy Midway rather than who was going to buy id. Daily operations won't change at id Software, “No changes will be made in the operations of id Software in the development of its games. id Software will continue to operate as a studio under the direction of its founder, John Carmack.” Soothing news to those following the development of id's next AAA game, Rage. Wow, the dark brooding hero has put on a few pounds since last we saw him! Who didn't see that one coming? Max Payne 3 takes place in Sao Paolo, Brazil, with "fully destructible environments". Which means more stuff to shoot at and blow up.  Players will also experience "day and night cycles". Read More...
