Putting PS3 3.0 Through Its Paces
by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 7th of September 2009 - 11:09 PM ]
Writing about anything Playstation or Playstation Network (PSN) related is always treading dangerous ground. The fanboys get upset if you write anything detracting and for everyone else, it just isn’t cool or in vogue to write something positive. This article will have a sprinkling of both positives and negatives as I look at the new Playstation 3 firmware update 3.0. Ever since E3 it seems like Sony has finally begun to stop taking itself so seriously and began to have a little fun. Read More...

Making Getting A Job Testing Games A Game
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 4th of September 2009 - 10:56 AM ]
We all have heard it before. What would be the best job for a gamer? Playing/Testing games is generally the answer. I'm a fan of paid to just live, but hey, that's not going to be likely. Also not the point here. Yesterday (9/3/09), Sony and the SCEA Studios are giving gamers just that chance. The chance to be one of their game testers for at least a year. Not only that, but to be paid to be one of their game testers for a year. Something that is nigh impossible for someone to get into even though they have all the qualifications for it. Read More...

Collecting The God Of Trophies
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 31st of August 2009 - 12:11 PM ]
God Of War® Collection So the rumors were out there. The feedback was out there. Sony listened and is going forth with it. God of War Collection is coming this holiday season. November/December for those of you who may not get our whacking American time frames still. Before my wit of title begin people all a fluster as it has in the past, let me touch on more. Not only are the releasing both God of War and God of War II on a BluRay making it so those without backwards compatible PS3s can enjoy them, but there is so much more. Like remastered it with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second. Read More...

Welcome Home, Again
by Kevin [ Thursday, 20th of August 2009 - 04:07 PM ]
With all of the news flooding out of the Sony camp a lot of people have been curious to see if the Home service is going to receive any measure of attention. Well, they have heard your cries and have offered up a wealth of information courtesy of the official blog. The list of features are as follows: Universal Game Launching: "You can now launch into any PlayStation 3 game directly from Home. Titles that fully support game launching (like Street Fighter 4 and Far Cry 2) will be identified by separate icons that appear over an avatar's head and will have varying degrees of additional multiplayer functionality built in. Simplified game launching will take you from Home to the start menu of your favorite games with ease. Read More...

New LBP DLC Will Totally Get You Wet
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of August 2009 - 01:05 PM ]
Sack it to Me – the "Big Announcements" Edition You ever hop into the level creator for LittleBigPlanet and feel like there was something missing. Something that stopped you from being able to faithfully recreate the entire game of Super Mario Bros. using their sandbox. Something you couldn't quite place your finger on. Something you had to muddle around with the jet packs a bit to get to work correctly as well as run a blue tint over the entire screen for immersion's sake. Ok, enough of that and on to the point. I Got A Great Big Bow Here
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of August 2009 - 07:32 AM ]
Hades Boss Fight Round 2 So on Monday we were able to give you a nice view of what the Lord of the Dead would be looking like. We've seen him only in a few minor shots in the God of War FMVs before that. But now we get one further peek at how this epic boss/boss fight will look and feel. All of this through some more screen shots from the game and what is being shown at GamesCom. I know it is all Hades vs. Kratos in those shots there, but it still looks amazingly stunning. PlayStation 3 Firmware (v3.00) Update So with the new PS3 Slim and price drop hitting the world, it would make sense that Sony would do something special for all of us who purchased the system a while ago. Some of us, at launch. I'll remain nameless for that one there. Irregardless, a new, pretty awesome update to the whole PS3 experience is what we current owners are getting. If you check out the list and video below, you can get a good look at what they are dishing out for us. A slimmer, sleeker What's New section. Read More...

LittleBigBurn
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 18th of August 2009 - 02:31 PM ]
Announcing: LittleBigPlanet – Game of the Year edition If there is one thing I hate when I open up a new DVD or Blu-Ray case, it's when there is an ad for a Special Edition of the same film that I bought coming out in a few weeks/months. A new edition with all the crazy extra features and extras that I wanted in the one I just bought. The kicker is when they advertise this new version for the same price as the one I just bought. It always leaves me burned by the company. Read More...

Additional PS3 Greatest Hits Titles Available Now Just like in music, when something has been around for a while and you want to remind fans of the awesomeness of the old stuff, you hit it up with a greatest hits treatment. It happens all the time. It also happens in the gaming world, and this time it has happened in time for players to get a rerun of a game before the sequel flies onto shelves. This morning on the PlayStation Blog, it was announced that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and SOCOM Confrontation are the two latest titles to get this treatment. This makes it so you can snag both titles brand new for $29. Read More...

Games to Watch: Way of the Samurai 3
by Kevin [ Friday, 7th of August 2009 - 03:57 PM ]
The original Way of the Samurai title was released on the Playstation 2 back in 2002. It was set in 19th Century Japan, where you would take on the role of a ronin who wanders into a remote village and becomes involved in a conflict between rival clans. One of the best features about this game was the branching storylines that offered some very solid replay value while at the same time offering enough in the way of varying weapons and side content to really constitute different gameplay experiences. Although the story in the first game follows one overall framing narrative, the actual events that the you would engage in really depend on the decisions you make. Some decisions, while seeming small, could affect who lived and died at the end of the story. Read More...

by Jesse [ Friday, 31st of July 2009 - 05:15 PM ]
Kuju Entertainment and Doublesix announced that they are doing their part to help support PlayStation Home with the creation of a new Home Space based on their successful PlayStation Store title Burn, Zombie, Burn! Designed in the same spine-tingling yet cartoony art style, the Burn Home Space is set as a graveyard. Comic Con Issue #2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 30th of July 2009 - 01:31 PM ]
Friday: XBox and PlayStation Day After fixing the few technical issues with Issue #1, we move onto the next day. A day dedicated primarily to what two of the largest companies and platforms brought to show off the gaming world. PlayStation and Xbox in case you couldn't figure it out. For some reason Nintendo was completely void of the con, outside of the companies showing off Wii and DS games they have coming out. But that's not the point here. We got to see a few things, meet a few celebrities, as well as end the night hanging with some of The Guild actors, Sony Hardware people, and the guys from the Totally Rad Show. Read More...

A price drop afterall?
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 26th of June 2009 - 10:21 AM ]
So everyone has been reading since E3 that Sony has no plans for a price drop. Activision's CEO, Bobby Kotick, laid down the hammer on Sony last week encouraging that Sony needs to consider dropping the price on the PS3 or else they could see a full-stop on Activision games for the PS3. Can I see a raise of hand who thinks the PS3 is still over priced? *raises hand*Well this week in Australia it seems the Target stores care cleaning house on the 40 gig model PS3 the sale price is 199 AUD (160 USD). This price drop was first discovered unadvertised by the Whirlpool forums. Read More...
