Japan Gets All The Good Fantasies
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 8th of July 2009 - 10:22 PM ]
Final Fantasy II Released on the Japanese PSN So, two weeks ago the original Final Fantasy was released on the Japanese PSN. Japanese fan boys and fan boys with a Japanese PSN account were rejoiced. But us non-JPSN having fan boys are still left out waiting for it to release in our region. Hint Square-Enix Now it looks like we have even more to be waiting for or considering skirting the system with GTranslate open next to us. Today on the Japanese PSN, they are all welcomed with the second, the actual second, game in the franchise. Outside of Japan, we think number four is number two. Read More...

Finally The Original Fantasy
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2009 - 10:24 PM ]
Final Fantasy on PSN Soon As if there hasn't been enough awesome Final Fantasy going about the interwebs since E3, Square-Enix drops some more good news for all of the FFFreaks (F3 from now on). Not as cool as a full on remake of FFVI for the PS3, or FFVII remake either, but today on the Japanese PSN "the game that launched a billion spin offs" was made available. I'm talking the original Final Fantasy. The PSOne upgrade version at that. Read More...

XIV Before XIII?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 22nd of June 2009 - 09:47 PM ]
Possible Beta Schedule For Final Fantasy XIV Let me say this here: This is speculation based on career board finding and nothing official. The same goes for any site that isn't as courteous as Aggrogamer to state this. Now that is out of the way. One of the big shockers at E3 this year was the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV Online. At least as far as the Sony briefing went. But it looks like there might be something else out there to excite and entice fans of all things Square-Enix. Read More...

E3 Impressions: Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
by Brian Bentley [ Friday, 12th of June 2009 - 10:16 AM ]
As much as one can be in awe of the Final Fantasy XIII and XIV trailers on the giant screen at Square Enix’s booth at E3, I kept walking around to find something else.  The classic jRPG fan in me jumped for joy at the sight of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.  Already out on Wii Ware, picking up and playing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was like running into a warm hug of an old friend. This sequel, 18 years in the making, tells the story of you, the son of the paladin Cecil and the white mage Rosa, years after the end of Final Fantasy IV.  The great evil of the second moon destroyed by Cecil and Rosa’s party in the original has returned and it is now up to you to stop this evil and return peace to the once quiet planet. E3 Impression: Final Fantasy
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 9th of June 2009 - 04:07 PM ]
In the land where Fantasy is real, and the Final chapter is never ending, Square-Enix has always been one of the main RPG makers around the world and this year at E3 they left nothing behind. During last year's E3, at the Microsoft Press Conference, Square-Enix dropped a bombshell when they announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be on the Xbox 360 (boooooo…just kidding) and it sparked the ever question of if the system itself can handle a game of that magnitude. Well at E3 2009 Square-Enix showed us all what the game would look like on the Xbox 360 for the first time. Surprisingly enough the game ran fairly well as they even showed off one of the summons from the game for the Press Conference. Read More...

Fantasy Demo Finally
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 15th of April 2009 - 06:34 PM ]
Final Fantasy XIII Demo While the official release date for the Demo for FFXIII isn't slated until, well today in Japan (3amish on the 16th as of this post), it didn't stop some people from getting their copies a bit early. Which of course doesn't stop them from taking screen shots and post video of the game online. Huzzah interwebs! Of course these are going to only be the first of a flood now that the new Advent Children bundled with the Demo has dropped. Read More...

Fighting The Stills
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 30th of March 2009 - 08:02 PM ]
More Screen Shots Of Final Fantasy XIII While there is no confirmation on when the US will get their version of the FFXIII demo, the Japanese got one with the re-release of Advent Children, and only rumors of such a thing, what are we outside of Japan to do? Outside of try to find videos of the demo on youtube, or fuzzy screen shots of said demo, or poor translations from blogs about said demo, or well I could go on and on but I won't. But hopefully you get the point there. Well we are kind of in luck if the "Special Look" at FFXIII on the BluRay US version of the game turns out to be just another trailer for the game. Read More...

Wii DLC for the Week of 3/2
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 4th of March 2009 - 03:58 AM ]
After a big week last week releasing four games, Nintendo gears back down to its normal conservative self.  This week in Wii DLC we have a game for everyone and a game for one.  For everyone in your household we have Gammick Entertainment's Family&Friends Party.  After searching their site extensively and finding no trace of the game, I had to rely on on Nintendo's exciting trailer.  You may not have family or friends to play with when they find out you spent 1,000 Wii Points on this game.On the flip side of the coin, on Virtual Console, is another Square Enix RPG from the Super NES days: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. Check Out These New Final Fantasy XIII Screenshots + Translations
by Sam [ Tuesday, 3rd of March 2009 - 05:02 PM ]
As we start to enter March, Square Enix continues to tease us with more in game screen shots from the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII. Below are just a couple pictures found on the Famitsu website and under each picture was a description that I just went ahead and translated them to understand what is being said about each picture."[kokun] is ruled to be restrained by the troop of the “saintly prefecture”, the people whom it has been about to be banished to pulse. That they probably will be rescued, those where you stand up, are the young people who are called Nora. Read More...

Final Fantasy Like You've Never Seen
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 29th of January 2009 - 06:09 PM ]
New Final Fantasy XIII Trailer So last week I brought you the view of the counter on the Final Fantasy XIII web site. There was a lot of question what it was going to bring when it hit zero. Well now that it has hit Zero, which option was it from the list. Not the sephiroth one, unfortunately. But it was what some flash decompilers let out to the world. A New trailer for the game. Not to big of a surprise. Read More...

Countdown To What?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 21st of January 2009 - 06:02 PM ]
Final Fantasy XIII Countdown To What? So there is no solid news about what is going on at the Final Fantasy XIII site, but there is now a counter on the front page, and a button to register to be informed of what is going to happen when the counter hits zero. It is obviously not a count down to when the game is going to launch because the counter ends in roughly seven days. But it could be something awesome given all the stuff that has been hitting Japanese magazines lately. My guess is that is a countdown to where you need to spread out the news of the count down to 13 people or Sephiroth will show up and give you a nice sword through the chest. Read More...

Square Enix New IP Scaring It Up On The DS
by Michael Camacho [ Saturday, 10th of May 2008 - 03:10 PM ]
To anyone who has seen Ringu or the U.S. remake, The Ring, is familiar with having only 7 days to live after watching a videotape. Well Square Enix brings a new IP to the Nintendo DS, which replaces the tape with a note.  You play as a young college student whom receives a note, known as "The Game Of The Curse" along with friends that says you must pass this on to someone else or die within 7 days.  You don't take it seriously until one of your friends dies in a tragic death after receiving the same note.  Now you must try and figure out the curse as you are approaching your turn to die. Squenix Again Teases FFVII
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 2nd of May 2008 - 08:44 PM ]
Crisis Core: Interviewing Yoshinori Kitase Let me drag the dead horse back out and get my big 11 foot pole. Because I am totally going to keep beating it. Not that I was the first too, but damn it, I'm going to continue the good work. Yes those rumors of a Final Fantasy VII remake are back in circulation again. This time pulled from an interview based around Crisis Core. As you will read below and on the actual interviewer's page, there is a lot of talk about the pre-quels and such, but then the question gets popped again. Read More...

Privileges For Those Who...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of March 2008 - 05:50 PM ]
Pre-Register with Squenix Members This is for all you die hard Squenix fans. Looks like they are opening up their Member program in the States next week. On the 24th to be exact. As of right now, they are letting those in the know to register their names and accounts to this service. Kind of to let those fans get first crack at their Usernames and such before it goes fully live. Already snagged up Hades on there if anyone was thinking of sniping it from me. :) There is no full word on what exactly will be coming with the Membership program. Read More...
