by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 25th of October 2010 - 12:16 PM ]
Blizzcon is over and that means news. Everyone including myself was expecting a release date for Diablo III, but instead we got a reveal of the 5th class called the Demon Hunter. The Demon Hunter is a dual crossbow wielding, bola throwing, walking ball of destruction. Check out the Trailer below, as well as a look at some of the game play. I'll let the videos speak from themselves. Here's a video of the Demon Hunter in action. Read More...

WCG Ultimate Gamer 2: Episode 3 - Clowning Around Ay?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 7th of September 2010 - 06:24 PM ]
We are now three episodes in and three contestants down. That also means it is time for AggroGamer's third recap/review of how Ultimate Gamer Season 2 is going. I feel obligated to keep you all informed in case you had something else going on. Let's stop gilding the lily and jump right in. "Disclaimer" I will make it no secret that I tried out for this season and was not selected due to XBox Live issues during game analysis. I was only able to connect for one of the sessions, and thus disqualified. Knowing that, please read these recaps as a reviewer's aspect and not a bitter gamer. Read More...

Nintendo Drops Portable Price For Holidays
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 31st of August 2010 - 04:34 PM ]
As if Nintendo didn't already control enough of the portable console market, they wanted to really push the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL handhelds this holiday season by reducing prices. Beginning on September 12th, the Nintendo DSi will drop to $149.99 and the DSi XL will drop to $169.99. The DS Lite will continue at the $129.99 price point. As always, the marketing team over at Nintendo of America (NOA) makes a brilliant move: drop the price of the DSi and DSi XL now in September in order to sell more units for Holiday 2010. Enslaved Went West To Gamescom And Showed The Goods
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 04:56 PM ]
Up until now, I have been only mildly interested in Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. It has an okay concept, but the screens, clips and hands-on I have seen or had up until now have done nothing to overly impress me. Please notice how I said "up until now." If you look back, you'll see it in the sentence prior. We were given a really great look at where the game has progressed to so far and it feels and looks like a whole new game to me. I know it isn't literally, but like I said, what I saw before didn't "Wow" me. Read More...

Splatterhouse Goes All Retro Style... In A Good Way
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Saturday, 21st of August 2010 - 01:48 PM ]
If I have not dropped enough hints yet, let it be explicitly known that I am not a big fan of the "retro" game look in modern times. I see it as a way for companies to milk gamers who don't have a better head on their shoulders so they can pretend to be gaming back when they first started. Gamers put money in the companies' pocket so they may play a game they've very likely played a billion times already. *cough* Golden Eye *cough* So when I heard that the most recent Splatterhouse trailer coming out of Gamescom showed off the retro look of the title, I was a bit pissed and extremely concerned. Thankfully, this lasted only for a few moments before watching the videos and new screen captures below. Read More...

Rock Band 3 Inadvertently Smiles for Camera at Gamescom
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 20th of August 2010 - 01:32 PM ]
<UPDATE> So because media outlets got the jump on confirming all the tracks in Rock Band 3 Harmonix decided to come out and "un-officially" confirm the rumors listed below. Way to try to cover up your mess there. But this isn't an announcement no matter how you try to play it. You guys screwed up and this is damage control. Just call it as it is. Source </UPDATE> You would think that in the "YouTube" generation everyone would realize that there are cameras everywhere. Read More...

Torchlight II Teaser Causing Salivation
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 19th of August 2010 - 05:14 PM ]
With the crazy amount of news coming out of Gamescom this year, even a little teaser trailer of the recently announced Torchlight 2 is generating plenty of buzz. Besides showing some outdoor environments, there really isn't a whole lot shown here, but the teaser did absolutely everything it needed to accomplish - raise the level of excitement and anticipation. I think our very own Corey Dockendorf demonstrated the proof in the pudding when he instant messaged me shortly after watching the trailer: "The new levels look pretty epic. If you all don't play with me, I'm gonna be pissed. Read More...

Diablo 3 Announces The Caravan
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 18th of August 2010 - 04:39 PM ]
Diablo III, just the title sends a rush of excitement through players all over the world. Today at Gamescom the Blizzard team announced a new feature they are calling the "Caravan". What is the caravan? Well basically it's taking a group of skilled craftsmen with you where ever you go. Rather than going back to a town you will have a living breathing camp that follows you from location to location giving you round the clock access to NPC's, quest givers and artisans. Artisans will be your crafters, from blacksmiths to jewel crafters, and you will add these artisans to your Caravan as you travel the world, finding them through the main quest line. You will be working on gaining each artisan's loyalty by completing quest lines for each artisan while completing the main quest. Read More...

Aggrocast Episode Seventy Six: Back into the Swing
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 05:41 PM ]
Your continued re-acclamation to the AggroCast resumes with Episode 76. Mike is back and better than ever, bringing serious gaming mojo to the returning E3 heroes, Brian and Binh. Okay, perhaps heroes is a bit strong, but the team is getting back into the swing of things. A quick recap of E3 has Mike jealous that Brian and Binh were able to attend the show. This week's Bargain Bin is from the Halo Universe. On the DL travels into the land of Final Fantasy. Read More...

Dragon Age II Trailer Released At Gamescom
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 02:59 PM ]
Not long ago BioWare announced Dragon Age II with a website and more recently a good amount of information from hands-on previews and a full article in Game Informer. At the EA press conference in Cologne Germany during Gamescom, EA gave us our first look at the cinematic trailer for Dragon Age II and it is definitely worth watching. The trailer is titled "Destiny" and it is a spectacle to behold; nothing less should be expected from BioWare. The cinematic is beautifully rendered with some great looking characters and awesome action sequences. Read More...

More Songs Revealed For Dance Central
by Brian Bentley [ Tuesday, 17th of August 2010 - 12:43 PM ]
Today more songs were revealed for Harmonix's Dance Central at Gamescom 2010. Currently one of the only games worth purchasing Microsoft's Kinect, Dance Central combines music, fun and dancing to create an experience unlike any other. I know that phrase is used an awful lot in this industry, but after experiencing it for myself at E3, I can definitively say I will purchase a XBox 360 and a Kinect specifically for this title. With today's announcement, the song list increases to 20. With only 30+ songs promised on the disc, you may be concerned about the depth of the roster, but with a list that now includes Rihanna's "Pon de Replay" and Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam", I don't think you have too much to worry about. by Brian Bentley [ Monday, 16th of August 2010 - 09:55 AM ]
Despite reports that the AggroCast team is dead, we are still alive and kicking...and playing games to boot. While we catch up on our lives during this summer, you too can catch up with some previously unreleased episodes of the AggroCast. Start with Episode 75, the one where David, Binh and Brian wrap up E3 2010. The team spent their last day at E3 scrambling around looking and playing anything they could get their grubby little hands on. This list includes some of the latest games from Bethesda and Square-Enix's Final Fantasy XIV. Read More...

SOE Fan Faire Hands On: Magic: The Gathering - Tactics
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 11th of August 2010 - 05:36 PM ]
While wandering about the show floor of SOE's Fan Faire, I stumbled upon something I have not had a good look at in almost a decade: Magic: The Gathering. You know, that collectible trading card game that was all the rage back in the early to mid-90's. Well, at least it was all the rage in the circles I rolled in. It had been such a long time since I had any solid contact with this franchise. I knew there have been umpteen expansions for the card game as well as a few PC games released around the franchise, but it wasn't until I got a good look at Magic: The Gathering - Tactics that I felt myself being pulled back into the universe. Comic Con 2010: The Sights And Sounds
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 6th of August 2010 - 06:36 PM ]
Now that Comic Con 2010 is a thing of the not too distant past, let's take a moment to reflect back on everything that happened there. Or at least everything that myself and the AggroGamer crew got to see and experience there - albeit with a caveat. That caveat being that I am only going to place the pics and videos of the fan stuff. So don't expect to see skimpy cos-play below. What you will see is some of the stuff for Thor - both video game and film, some of the filming set for The Walking Dead, randomness from around the show floor and a butt load from Tron. Read More...
