Cataclysm Beta Brings Streaming Content
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 6th of August 2010 - 03:52 PM ]
For the lucky few that were chosen to rally together and fight the new horrors of Azeroth in the World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta test, a pretty big update was currently launched. The new clients, which can be downloaded from your battle.net account page, fully re-installs the beta test and showcases Blizzard's new streaming content feature; so you can download while you play. What does all this mean? Can't I just login the same way I have been since the start? Read More...

Blizzard Sells Out Again
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 3rd of August 2010 - 06:11 PM ]
Did you hear that? That was the sound of records breaking in the distance, players from around the world cheering and crying as one of the most anticipated games in the past decade was released. I'm talking about StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which was released on PC and Mac on July 27th 2010. "GameStop had more than 3,000 stores open at midnight, so our StarCraft players got a jump start on playing the epic experience Blizzard consistently delivers with its games," said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. "StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is officially GameStop’s fastest-selling PC game since Blizzard launched World of Warcraft®: Wrath of the Lich King® in 2008." StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on launch day, sold over 1 million copies and over 1. Read More...

Starcraft II - The Lost Viking
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 28th of July 2010 - 06:13 PM ]
Starcraft II was released yesterday and to most players surprise we got two games for the price of one. By accessing an arcade in the cantina of the Hyperion, players are able to play an Asteroids like shooter called "Lost Viking". In homage to the classic Blizzard SNES 1994 title The Lost Vikings. Dear Blizzard, how are we supposed to complete one of the longest waited for titles to date, when you keep putting addicting mini-games in to keep us distracted? So picture this, you play a mighty Viking and are flying through outer space trying to find your way home to Vikingville. All while being chased by the evil Terra-Tron "HE DOES NOT LIKE YOU!!! Blizzard Suspending Use Of Real Names In Their Forums
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 12th of July 2010 - 04:21 PM ]
A heated debate has been going on in the Blizzard community lately over a new concept called Real ID. Blizzard understandably annoyed with the sheer volume of trolling and flaming going on in their forums, originally decided to require real names with forum posts. After a community uproar, they have resolved to postpone the use of real names. I clearly am proof of using your real name online will not prevent someone from spewing vitriol and being an internet troll (just read any post I've written about Nintendo). Instead of enacting an instant update Blizzard will still be phasing in its use of the RealID system, just not until Starcraft II and subsequently World of Warcraft: Cataclysm crawl out of our dreams and into our local game retailer's shelves. StarCraft II: The Commercial
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 10th of June 2010 - 10:10 PM ]
So you thought you had to wait for the new StarCraft II commercial that is airing tonight during the NBA finals between the L.A Lakers and the Boston Celtics? Well I have news for you. You don't have to wait that long for it. Seems someone at Blizzard thought a Zerg rush was coming because the video is out right now for your viewing pleasure. While watching the commercial you will see some familiar stuff, but the rest of it is brand spanking new. The game is shaping up to be one of those games that is well worth the long wait that we all had to endure. Read More...

Well wonder no more as Blizzard Entertainment announced today that Battle.net gaming service will integrate with Facebook. Thats right, more of a reason why you should have Facebook. Brian G Asks: WTF is up with DLC?
by Brian Goodman [ Monday, 26th of April 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish. Don't quote me on this, but the first expansion in my memory was the level add on pack for Doom II released in 1995 called "Doom II Master Levels. Read More...

Starcraft 2 Website Has A Media Explosion
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 20th of November 2009 - 04:49 PM ]
Starcraft II's website just had a content explosion all over the screen. The website has new screenshots, some from the game and others from the cinematic, and they look phenomenal. I think that if these detailed shots of in-game cinematic are any indication, this game is going to take Starcraft players to a whole new, long awaited, adventure.    The features page is where all the fun is though. They have new videos highlighting the single player and multiplayer scenarios. Read More...

Here We Go Again, WoW Rejected In China Again
by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 4th of November 2009 - 03:45 PM ]
And here we go again, the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) put a hold onto NetEase's request for World of Warcraft to be approved in China. This has been an ongoing battle for some time now. The9's license agreement with blizzard expired this year and was won by NetEase in April of this year. NetEase had a three year agreement for World of Warcraft only to have there application "passed up" due to "violating the rules". Here's the problem, The9 had this game in operation in china for four years, count 'em four years. Read More...

Blizzcon 2009 Day 2
by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 28th of August 2009 - 07:34 PM ]
Day 1 came and gone in a flash... of light. From the opening ceremony to shopping around to visiting many of the booths to the Costume, Dance & Sound A-Like Contest at the end of the day, I was wearing out really fast. For Day 2, I knew I had to plan out what I needed to do and the time to do it in. As I rolled into the convention center, again I saw the nerds, geeks and dorks in line waiting for hours to be one of the first to get into the convention center. As I waited in line, I talked to those around me. Read More...
