Get $5 For A Reservation

Most of us are use to the way pre-orders work. You go to [insert store here] and drop five precious dollars to ensure that you will get a copy of the game when it comes out. Said five buckaroos goes toward buying the game and all you have to do is show up and drop the rest of the price of the game. Then you are on your way home happy as a clam to play your new shiny game on [insert system here]. At least in general.

Well Target seems to want to shake things up a bit. But at least in a good way. Starting on the 19th if you pre-order specific games for $1, you get a $5 Target card after you buy the game. That is if you bring the pre-order card back within a week of the game's launch. Which I don't know why you wouldn't just turn around and bring it back right after you pick up your game, but whatever. Hey it's a free $5 for just buying the game as normal.

Below is a picture of the first wave of these pre-orders that gain you a bit of money. And the full reasoning and details.

MINNEAPOLIS - April 16, 2009

Target announced today a new reservation program that offers guests a chance to reserve the biggest and most popular video game titles. Beginning April 19, Target guests can purchase a collectible reservation card, only in stores, for $1. "We've created a reservation guarantee that ensures guests will get their hands on popular games the day they are released, and a $5 Gift Card upon purchase adds even more value," said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, Target.
