Play Mirror's Edge The Way You Want

One of the major complaints I've heard about from this game is the fact that you can't play it in any way except first person mode. It is to keep you immersed in the world, but in some instances, it would be nice to have the option to just out to an over the shoulder camera view. Or at least a 3rd person view. Something that just isn't a normal option for the game. Well your prayers seem to be answered, a bit.

There is a way to force this view on the PC version. I'll list how below. It is rather easy. But there is something to take into consideration. This game was not designed for this form of play. It works well, but the animations for the game where definitely made for the first person view. The video below will show that in the running. On top of that, the camera angle is kind of forced right behind Faith's head. So some angles will force the camera to be on the other side of a wall. But fortunately you can swap between angles real quick.

So give it a whirl and let us all know how it works out for ya. Here's how to do it and a video showing the results.

  • "Go to 'DocumentsEA GamesMirror's EdgeTdGameConfig'
  • Open the file "TDInput" with notepad.
  • Add this line to the "bindings" list: (Above the one for F5)
  • Bindings=(Name="F4",Command="FreeFlightCamera",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
  • Press F4 a few times. First you get the free cam (noclip) and later the third person cam.
