Home Is Complex

Those of you who are not all that thrilled with Home as of yet, I have some good news. Lets just hope it stays that way. One of the things I had to ask the Sony and in turn the Home people was about the content of Home. They didn't want to comment much on the failed release time frames, but that's ok. What they did have to show as well as inform me on.

First, the long awaited Helghast skin for your Home toon to wear. There was rumor about it a while back, but I actually got to see it in full motion, and it does look very cool. So cool there were loads of people online asking how to get it while we were running around the live Home world. The answer to that is, pre-order Killzone 2 through Amazon. It is the only way to get it.

Now I bet you are wonder why that is. Well as the Home guy went on to explain, yes that is his PSN TheHomeGuy, the head behind Home is large into exclusives for people who want them or want o earn/buy them. Not sure how I feel on that, but it does make for a new twist to the experience on Home. This is also the point at which I was informed of a few changes that we will see due to this exclusive mind set of the decision makers.

Some of the clothes and extras that are in the game now will be going away as time goes on. Making it so that only the people that have been around from the start have access to them, if they buy them. Also, that some of them might be going the way of free on the site in the next 6 months. That was on the DL by the way. The paying for stuff thing never sat well with me and TheHomeGuy assured me that I would be glad with some of the ongoing changes they have planned for the online world. Very good to know. I hate being nickeled and dimed.

One of the other big things that they were talking about when it comes to Home is the new EA Sports Complex that is slated for sometime in March. This is a whole new section to wander around in, with it's own mini-games and leader boards built in. The games being a Golf game, Racing game, and Poker. Also a full area where there will be information kiosks that will be changing as EA Sports comes out with future games.

Also with this new area, is a new feature not done in Home yet. You can actually gain items in Home by playing their mini-games as well as access to exclusive stuff in the Area. One of the exclusives is that you can't move to a high rollers table in the poker room unless you have won enough virtual money to be able to buy in. Kind of like a achievement system built into Home, at least in the EA side of things. Below is a video of the new area and stuff I brought up.

Fun Fact: I was totally standing and chatting with people recording this video. Like I was standing to the left of the camera guy. Yes it is a fun fact.

I also prodded around about any other future rooms or content and they had no information. Not sure if it was NDA stuff kicking in or they just didn't know. But I did ask about an awesome Resident Evil themed area. TheHomeGuy said it would be awesome, but they have nothing in the works. But he would pass the idea on to the decision makers. So I will state it now. If Home gets a Resident Evil Themed area, it is all because of me. I made the suggestion. ME ME ME.
