SoulCalibur
Geralt Of Rivia, of The Witcher fame, will be in SoulCalibur VI doing what he does best as well as expanding the universe of SoulCalibur VI just a bit more
It was heavily implied for a bit that we would see The Witcher in other games and now it has been confirmed that he will be joining the ranks of SoulCalibur VI when it finally launches this year. Bandai Namco has set up the crossover with CD Projekt RED to get this iconic character added into the mix of the fighting game and using all of his skills to do what he does best. One would have thought that Monster Hunter would have been the best idea for the crossover, but SoulCalibur VI it is. As long as he blends in well I do not see and issue with that at all, it just seems like the not-so-obvious choice for franchises to mix.
Geralt is not the only thing from that IP that is coming over to SoulCalibur VI as we will also get to see Kaer Morhen moved over for us to fight in. Also, Doug Cockle will be voicing Geralt again in this game to make it feel like there was a true blending of the two universes. That is how the story makes it sound in the following gameplay we have. Mix in all of the animations and character models from The Witcher making the move over to SoulCalibur VI; it should be a nice blending indeed. Although he would want to kill all of those who stand in his way and a true death is nothing we normally see in these fighting games.
SoulCalibur VI — Geralt Of Rivia
Geralt was trained at the elite School of the Wolf and is considered one of the deadliest monster slayers. He possesses superhuman reflexes and strength, as well as superior sword fighting skills. Players who choose to fight as Geralt will utilize The Witcher’s signature fighting style — a combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and combat magic.
Doug Cockle — the English voice of Geralt of Rivia — returns in SoulCalibur VI to reprise the role. Gamers will also be able to fight in Kaer Morhen — home keep of the School of the Wolf. Accompanying players in battle will be “Hunt or be Hunted” — an iconic composition from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt soundtrack.
It is still unclear if Geralt will be part of the starting roster of SoulCalibur VI or a DLC add-on after launch. He will not be a platform exclusive as he will be on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. There is just no word if he will be coming after launch. While we wait to hear back on that, we can just hope he will be a core "guest fighter" in SoulCalibur VI without the need of anything extra to unlock him. He is supposed to be a selling point for the game and not something to just be there after all. You would think that Bandai Namco would do something to make him stand out a bit more.
Are you excited to get to fight as Geralt in SoulCalibur VI now or were you hoping for a different crossover title? How much different will his fighting style feel in this game when compared to his own? Do you think we will see other guest fighters added in or will this be it until the common DLC adding?
