Vampyr
Check out more of the locations for Vampyr in the E3 trailer as well as see Vampyr's Ascalon Club in action before the new release date
It's time to start the fun for E3 here as the new basic trailers for games are starting to flow and here we go with Vampyr and its latest trailer to have a look at just before a huge showing on the floor out there next week. I have been excited for DontNod to bring us more for this game for some time now and am glad to see that we have a nice long trailer to look at here. If only it was more gameplay for Vampyr and less flying around to show off some of the world in the game. I'm guessing that the gameplay will be held for the show floor, but what was not held for then is the release window for the game which has now been set as November of this year. Now we know when we could see it on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Good deal.
Of course this would be a waste of time if there weren't a few things here for Vampyr outside of a really well done cut of scenes with a great song here. Not just the release window for the game was here, but we also have a look at what is called The Ascalon Club in the game's world. We knew that there would be other vampires in the game for us to deal with but this is a new group of wealthy vampire in the world that hold their own little secret clubs; most likely to feed and kill without needing to hide much. I always figured there would be something like this in Vampyr as almost all vampire stories have something like this, usually as an antagonist group, and now here we go. Outside of seeing a group watching one vampire feed there isn't much more to go on for it. Outside of the great visuals though.
Vampyr — E3 Trailer
Fly through the streets as imagined by DontNod Entertainment, in the E3 trailer for their upcoming narrative driven action-RPG Vampyr. Witness deep into the heart of a flu-stricken London, where secret societies operate in the shadows.
Accompanied by the rock song Devil by Ida Maria, set out on an exciting journey with an uncut sequence shot throughout the city’s dark alleys, deadly underground passages and corrupt neighbourhoods and get a first glimpse at The Ascalon Club, a society formed from the richest vampires, unbeknownst to the mortals.
You are Dr. Jonathan Reid, a famous surgeon home from the Great War and recently turned into a vampire against your own will. As a doctor, you have taken an oath to save lives and take care of the sick. As a vampire, you are cursed to hunt those you vowed to heal.
To survive against deadly foes roaming the streets – vampire hunters, undead Skal and other monstrosities – you will need to choose which civilians to feed on, so you can grow stronger and evolve your vampiric abilities. Use your unholy powers to manipulate and delve into the lives of those around you – but be prepared to live with the consequences of your actions. A web of interconnected citizens with unique lives and relationships react to your decisions, and killing just one may cause the downfall of an entire city district. Your actions will save or doom London.
While I have no doubt that this will all be fleshed out a bit more at E3, it does make me wonder if this new group in Vampyr is going to do more than serve as an antagonist as the general case usually is. Given that we are playing as one of the famous doctors of the time who has been turned recently, it could be that this is the "hub" for us as we need to hide and fight hunters and other monsters of the night. That and make sure we only kill those who really need killing or won't be missed. That would be my hope here for Vampyr as it would make for a great reason for us not to be caught easily as well as deviate from the usual role of these "secret societies." I guess we will find out here soon and we'll see if my hopes come true.
How excited are you to see that Vampyr will be coming to us sometime in November now? Were you hoping for some new gameplay here or do you like these kinds of "sizzle" trailers to get you amped up for the big show? Do you think that The Ascalon Club will be an antagonist or will DontNod mix things up and make them a "safe haven" for Dr. Reid in the overall scheme of things? Let us know what you are thinking and of course feel free to discuss it all down in the comments. We will hopefully know a lot more on Vampyr out of E3 here next week. We will bring you all of the updates and news that we can so be sure to keep checking in here for more on this game and many more.
