Studio Istolia
A new studios, Studio Istolia, has been announced as well as Studio Istolia's first IP being in the works in terms of Project Prelude Rune
If for some reason you didn't think that Square Enix had a lot on their table already, they go out and set up a whole new studio in the way of Studio Istolia. This would be a whole new studio that has been founded in Japan and has been tasked with bringing more great story titles out to us all with their first getting the codename of Project Prelude Rune. Given that this is only an announcement for Studio Istolia and the first IP it is working, there isn't much more to go on than that but at least we know that we have another contender in the gaming world and their aim is to bring more story based titles to us. It is in the name after all.
Studio Istolia's first title will be produced by Hideo Baba and is poised to be a new RPG set in a new fantasy universe. It is worth noting that there is use of IP and note title here as this would indicate that this studio is working on something that is completely new and not just built off another franchise that Square Enix already holds the rights to or have worked to death. That can be exciting although seeing as Studio Istolia has just been set up and they are still looking for a lot of talent, it could be many, many years before we see whatever this Project Prelude Rune truly is. At least from the concepts it looks like it will have dragons.
Studio Istolia further builds on Square Enix Group’s vision to create new intellectual properties alongside existing Square Enix studios. Hideo Baba who has over 18 years of experience in game development will serve as the studio head.
Hideo Baba is working as the producer of “Project Prelude Rune” as well. The project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life. Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just—and this is their tale.
Further details on “Project Prelude Rune” will be revealed at a later time.
What are your early thoughts on Studio Istolia and their first IP, Project Prelude Rune, as we have it so far? Do you think that it will feel completely new or will they still use the same tried and true tactics that Square is known for? Do you think that this could point at some of their other story-heavy IPs falling to the side for a bit? Let us know down in the comments and discuss. As we learn more on Studio Istolia and Project Prelude Rune we will have it here for you. Keep checking back in so you can see how it all progresses even if it takes years to get our first real showing of anything.
