Hellblade

The latest developer diary for Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has been gifted to us and we get to see just how Hellblade's Senua came into being

Life is always full of interesting twists and it looks like the development of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is also another shining example of just that. At least that is the takeaway from the most recent developer diary Ninja Theory has given us all just before taking a well-deserved break for the end of the year. While it may not have much in terms of the gameplay for Hellblade, it is filled with an awesome story on just how we ended up with a version of Senua in the game that may have never been had it not been for some of those aforementioned twists spoken of earlier.

As it turns out, the actress who we will soon be getting to know well in Hellblade is also the same person who brings us all of these fun videos for the game as well as a few others that the developer has worked on in the past. DMC being the other main title mentioned here but of course their catalog is filled with so many other great titles. But I digress and am veering off topic as I am want to do every so often.

Not to ruin the fun of it all, the gist of it all boils down to Melina Juergens shifting roles slightly to help the development of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice to carry on while a different actress was sought after. That didn't go so well or long before she was then asked to step in and then go through the transformation personally and slightly physically to become Senua. Yes, this is not an unrealistic body image thing that gamers have talked about near the beginning of the dev cycle as we can see right here it is all still based on a real human. Of course there is more to it all but You can catch the video for yourself and judge.
