Call Of Cthulhu
New screenshots for Call Of Cthulhu have been released and they show a few more areas in the game as well as some Call Of Cthulhu locals who we will have to handle
It looks like the Elder Gods are happy with where we have the world now as we have been graced with a few more screenshots for Call Of Cthulhu. That would be the video game version of the franchise for those who stumbled in here looking for the many other forms of it all that Cyanide Studios is using to craft the game. There really are quite a few out there and this version of Call Of Cthulhu looks to give us a taste of madness in the digital form as we try to figure out what is going on within the island of Darkwater. Just another crazy investigation story that we can hope will have a happy ending…although we all know that isn't going to happen in the least bit given how things always play out here.
While Focus Home Interactive hasn't been too forthcoming with new details on this version of Call Of Cthulhu we can at least extrapolate a few things here. They say that there is something going on with locals here but things look rather tame in their regards but they are just still so who truly knows right now? It does look like while madness is a theme that will always be here, we are going to be getting a mechanic that rings true with all games that go with this. That means fuzzy/shaky visuals and in-game things not always being there to see and interact with. You can see one of those below but the other is described a lot like game objects appearing or disappearing as we see in a lot of other horror games out there. I just hope they get it all right here.
You are Edward Pierce, a war veteran turned private detective, in the Boston of the 20s. You have been hired to investigate, on the isolated island of Darkwater, the unusual and tragic death of Sarah Hawkins and her family. Soon your investigation will lead you to the fringes of the paranormal, where reality and illusion begins to blend… or is this really the fruit of your imagination?
Driven by the idea that mankind is irrelevant in an uncaring universe filled with inconceivable horrors, Lovecraft's dark works have captured imaginations across the world for close to a century. Call Of Cthulhu fully embraces these fundamentals, pitting you in a desperate struggle against powers that defy human comprehension. To uncover the disturbing truth of Darkwater Island, you will venture a deadly path to the very brink of insanity – a concept tightly tied to the Cthulhu Mythos. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows - as they say that madness is the only way that can bring you to the truth.
I think we have finally hit a point for Call Of Cthulhu that we should get some actual gameplay and description for the game. Especially after these new images here. While I am still excited to get a look at the final version of the game, it does look like Cyanide Studios is using a lot of the tried and true ways to present it all. With a game like Call Of Cthulhu you should be pushing boundaries and not just playing it safe. Although this could be based on the publisher's wants and needs but still… I want my Call Of Cthulhu to be out there and have me question my own world and not just one gimmick to another to give the perception of it all. It's just not the same and we all know it; even if it is on a low level.
What are your thoughts on the latest screenshots for Call Of Cthulhu that we have here? Do you agree that it looks like the same actions and mechanics are being shown here in the screenshots and hopefully they are not as they seem? Do you think that these locals shown here are truly nefarious or will they just be background noise as we press on with our investigations? Let us know all of your thoughts and desires down in the comments. For more on Call Of Cthulhu as it comes out of Focus Home Interactive, be sure to stay right here.
