DOOM
The fifth free update for DOOM is here and it brings in some new modes to DOOM's multiplayer among many other updates for the game now
Hopefully you weren't thinking of putting DOOM for a bit to give some of these other great games a chance. If you were then you are going to be a bit sore with id Software as they have just released yet another Free Update for the game and it brings a whole new multiplayer mode and the ability to reach the rank of Echelon 11 in the game. It's almost like they don't care about the other titles that Bethesda has brought us and want us all to stay focused on DOOM for as long as they want. Not that this is a bad thing, but there are only so many hours in the day and some of them need to be dedicated to keeping one's being up and in the land of the living.
Moving right along, this new update for DOOM is bringing a new gameplay mode for multiplayer and it looks like fitting game of football of sorts. Mainly it looks like we will be running around with a "ball" and trying to get said ball into our opponent's goal so we can score big. Of course all of the usual danger and everything in DOOM will be trying to stop us along the way to the goal so there is that to worry about but it is something new to keep the flow of the game going. Also so we can rank up and unlock the new Marine Armor (Praetor Suit) for hitting the top ranking. All of which can be seen in the below trailer to get you all teased up.
In addition to all of this we will also be seeing more items make it into the SnapMap designer. There will be more from the core DOOM game so we can build our own levels and such that feel even more like the base campaign of the game. I'm not sure why everything wasn't up and ready out of the gate but none the less we are getting more to play with and hopefully build things as id Software does and did here. Good times and good update.
DOOM — Free Update 5
Multiplayer
- Infernal Run — a new competitive game mode where teams fight for control of the ball and score in the opponent’s goal.
- Bots — available on original multiplayer maps in Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch game modes.
- Multiplayer rank now extends to Echelon 11 — once you reach the new highest ranking, you’ll unlock the signature DOOM Marine Armor (Praetor Suit)!
SnapMap
- Play as the DOOM Marine in the DOOM Marine Armor (Praetor Suit).
- More elements from the campaign, allowing you to play and create even more campaign-like experiences.
- Lazarus Lab themed modules and props.
