It Could Be Time To Let The Speculation Fly On Injustice 2 Guest Stars

Injustice 2

New speculation and rumors for Injustice 2 are starting up as the Creative Director of Injustice 2 asks us who should guest star in the game

You have to admire how the internet and fandom works together as we have some new speculation out there for Injustice 2 and possible characters outside of DC that could be showing up. Before you get too excited let it be known that this is all started on something a bit flimsy and nothing leaked from NetherRealm Studios. Also as Injustice 2 is still slated for a 2017 release many things can be changed and added to. I'm just presenting this as things are and will provide a little bit of other background as to why the masses are buying into things more than they should be.

All of this started off with Ed Boon posting two Twitter Polls out there asking everyone to vote on their favorite Non-MK and MK guest stars for Injustice 2. The second list here has a few of the fan favorites and last I checked showed that gamers would want to see Sub Zero in action. It would make sense as Scorpion was in Injustice the first time around and had an interesting write in for it. The second list revolved around the Terminator, Hellboy, Buffy, and Spawn. The Terminator was a fan requested and rumored DLC character for MKX while Spawn was a desperately fan requested character and also made a bit of sense to me.

Now to stoke the flames of the rumors and speculation.

I find it quite interesting that we would see all of these show up here for Injustice 2. Specifically Spawn. Especially given the details of a small piece from last year that stoked the flames of the character being in MKX. In an interview back then, the father of the Spawn franchise noted that NetherRealm Studios had an agreement that they could access the character for a game during a window of time. Of course that could be a time less than two years as the below interview took place in 2015 and Injustice 2 won't be coming until 2017 but the option could still be there.

Of course you could look at the part in the beginning where he was asked directly about the character joining the list of playable characters in Injustice 2 and McFarlane directly saying "No." To which I'd offer the flame fanning of "That was back then when it may not have been broached." So again, this could be a rumor and speculation that turns into something and I know I'd personally love to see Spawn join the fight.

Todd McFarlane Says Yes To Spawn's Inclusion In Mortal Kombat X

"That means that they have access to be able to use the character in a couple of their games, if they want to. Again, it's up to their discretion. I gave them a window of time, so I'll just leave it to them to do what it is that they want. Eventually, they'll phone me and they'll go, 'Hey, we want to use him here. Is that okay?' Well, technically, it's okay because we've already said yes. They just are letting us know."

"I don't know if they're ever going to use him. They just might squat on him."

Truth be told though, this is most likely the fun musings of Ed Boon who was notorious for stoking rumors and speculation during the release of MKX and all of the DLC that followed. Why wouldn't he do it for Injustice 2? It would get us all talking and writing about it without the need of actually revealing a single thing. Although, in a few weeks we will have The Game Awards and that would be a great time to show off new fighters for Injustice 2. Not that I'd expect any from the list here to be announced given the time line but we could see more on the DC Comics roster or maybe just new gameplay.

Do you think there is any merit to the latest Injustice 2 rumors and speculation? Do you think that there would be even a slight shred of a chance that Spawn could be included into the game even though the comic worlds are different? If not any of these characters, who would you like to see make it into the ranks here? Let us have all of those thoughts on all of this and then discuss in the comments below.
