Overwatch
Another new character has been announced for Overwatch and this one comes in the way of a 'dead' member of Overwatch coming back to fight the good fight
As if the roster of Overwatch wasn't large enough already it looks like we are getting yet another character added into the mix. I guess it is a good sign that Blizzard is bringing another new character as it definitely shows that they are fully backing the title and not just releasing and forgetting. Not that I thought they would do that to Overwatch in the first place but it is always a good sign to see them continuing the work. Now we have Ana to join into mix and it looks like she has a hard story to bring into the game when the update hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
As we can see below, Ana is a new healer type for Overwatch who was once proclaimed dead to the world. In fact, it was in the line of duty and instead of correcting the incorrect reports she took the chance to leave the fight and go back to her family. With the new rise in evil though it looks like she needs to roll out and bring her odd way of healing her team with her. Odd in the way that she can shoot her allies with health and "infect" them to spread a non-healing agent to her enemies for a short while. At least is how the game mechanic sounds and looks to play out.
Overwatch — Ana
Ana’s primary weapon is her Biotic Rifle, which fires long-range darts that can restore the health of her allies or deal ongoing damage to her enemies. Meanwhile, her Biotic Grenade is perfect for a close-quarters clash, because it simultaneously heals teammates and injures foes caught in its small area of effect. (Affected allies will also receive a temporary increase to all incoming healing, whereas affected enemies can’t be healed for a few moments.) And if the battle starts to get out of hand, Ana’s side arm can fire a Sleep Dart, knocking her adversaries’ unconscious.
There is no solid date on when Ana will be added into the Overwatch mix as the gameplay video and story trailers were "leaked" out there before the official one hit. I have a feeling that it won't be too far off but I've been unplugged from the game for a bit now and still am not certain. I guess we'll find out when Blizzard makes everything 100% official and we get to see Ana back at the sides of all of her Overwatch chums from past and present.
What are your thoughts on Ana here for Overwatch? Does her healing look a little too close to that of other characters in other games? How many more characters to do you think will be added to the over-sized list during the game's full cycle? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below.
