Street Fighter V
The next update for Street Fighter V is bringing a story mode to the franchise and here's our first taste of Street Fighter V's new story mode
Earlier this week we had a look at the new characters coming to Street Fighter V in the next big update on July 1st. It also housed a few new looks at two other characters that were on the way but they only were tastes from Capcom as they would be in the new story mode coming to the game. They are slated to come later but as they are part of the new Street Fighter V story they were there and now we get to see why. That's right. Just before it releases here we now have a look at the new story mode coming to the PS4 and PC for the game.
As it turns out this new story takes place in five acts over the span of it all and it tells the story of what happened between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III. No, this is not a continuation of the overall story but an in-between-quel. How this actually fits in as it is the new story mode for Street Fighter V I am not sure. All it does is prove the long standing joke I had from the franchise's early stage. That being that the developers and everyone over there don't know how to count at all as now we see five is coming before four and after three. A very weird jump in general but that is how it is all unfolding.
It does look like Capcom is taking a page out the winning formula for another great fighting franchise here with Street Fighter V's story mode. As it sounds and looks in the following trailer, we will be getting little bits of story followed by a fight using one of the sixteen core, 6 DLC, and 2 unreleased characters along the way. This is why those other two characters were at least introduced for us now even though they are not available as of yet. I have a feeling we are going to have a Rain and Baraka situation here with the difference being we'll get the characters at some point. For now, we get them in this free story update for Street Fighter V and that will have to do.
Street Fighter V — Cinematic Story Trailer
The Street Fighter V cinematic story expansion is divided into five acts and takes place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, bridging the events that happen in between the two stories. “A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. As the story unfolds, players will enter battles using each of the core 16 characters, in addition to the 6 (released and unreleased) 2016 DLC characters, each with their own unique contribution to the epic clash. “A Shadow Falls” is free downloadable content available to all players and it marks the first time in franchise history that consumers will be able to play through this type of cinematic experience in a Street Fighter game. The epic battle between good and evil begins soon… who will RISE UP?
Are you ready to play through the story mode of Street Fighter V now? Are you a little set back that the events are taking place in a completely different point in the timeline than the sequel number indicates? Are you surprised that they are using the same formula for story mode that one of their huge competitors already does? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below. For more on Street Fighter V and all of the DLC that will be coming along with it be sure to stay right here. We'll have all of the updates we can get as they come and you won't want to miss out on a thing.
